For those planning to head to Krabi, Ko Samui, Ko Toa etc. Floods have killed 15 people so far and tourists are stranded. Is anybody there to give us more information?

I'm currently in Bangkok and have been trying to head south for a few days, trying to complete my England- Singapore overland journey. Finally today i've been able to buy my bus ticket to the Malaysian border, but trains are still suspended. Reply to this

Ironically I will be flying into Krabi in about 4 weeks to do some live podcasts for my students on Tsunami damage..guess that will now include Landslides for the soils students...unless the rains keep up I assume services & infrastructure will be up and running by then. Reply to this

I am thinking what food can I eat during my Thailand tour.

Just an update - I skyped for an hour or so with a fellow earth sciences lecturer in Krabi today and got a few pics through - Ao Nang is FINE. In fact the beach is probably cleaner than before the floods. Railay is also back to normal although I have not seen pics. Ferries are operating again, airport is fully functional. Ocean today looks lovely and clear although I would suspect a fair bit of silt for the next week at most if anyone is planning on diving. Shops and restaurants etc are open, there is no shortage of food or water in the ao nang area. Today ferries went out to Phi Phi and Maya bay etc - tourism along the Krabi/Ao Nang coastline is fine. Great to see snaps of the days of flooding followed by snaps from the first snaps of dry days with mud and silt being carefully swept off the streets and beaches picked clean of debris and litter. Photos from today show Ao Nang looking like it usually does, postcard perfect.

This does not mean inland areas are in the same shape - suggest checking local Krabi newspapers online for more info.
