Aren't we all curious to find out which blog has most # of recommends, or likes, or who has been out longest on a continuous trip?
Just to get things started, how about we all contribute to find out which blogs or bloggers have:
-Most number of recommends (
Ali has 109)
-Most number of countries visited: my bet is
Maisondubonheur but
Viajerong Pinoy has 111
-Longest time out on trip: (
aspiringnomad at 2,623 days but
Mingalaba was 11 years?)
-Longest time out on a trip without flying (
aspiringnomad at 12 months -- who beats him?)
-Most number of comments on a single blog (
The Teaching-English-in-Korea Blog by
Jenni Jen had 154)
-Most number of 5 stars on a single photo (
aspiringnomad had 21--but which photo, Jason?)
-Most number of "Like" on a blog
-Youngest Blogger (bravo, young 'uns!)
-Oldest blogger
Come on, guys, help me with this!
Reply to this Vlajerong Pinoy is at 111 countries, but I do seem to recall seeing a blogger who has been to 120 or more. I'll keep looking for them.
Reply to this Longest travel has got to be
Donna and Neil... They left in 2006 and apart from visits still haven't made their way home yet!
1561 days according to their profile!!!!!
Reply to this Well spotted - they will be the longest - 1561 days and counting! Cannot see anyone getting close to them.
Reply to this STATS!!!
- number of recommends: 76 (nobody loves me its true)
- number of countries visited: 90 something (I guess I linger too long)
- Longest time out on a trip: From and including: Monday, May 15, 2000
To, but not including: Saturday, July 21, 2007
It was 2623 days Or 7 years, 2 months, 6 days excluding the end date from when I left the UK after my Masters to the end date, but not including the end date when Jennifer and I landed in Korea (she was pregnant at the time) to ‘settle down’ and have a baby and get married and stuff. We stayed for just over 12 months in Korea before hitting the road again with Kiva in the summer of 2008. Kiva travelled for 366 days (and 20 countries) with us before we decided to ‘settle down’ again in Canada for eight and a half months, where we had another baby (Mandalay). Mandalay just spent 224 days on the road with us, and visited four countries (she’s only little!) Incidentally we have just returned to Canada from our stint in South America today!
-Longest time out on a trip without flying/Overland: Mexico to Brazil, 2001 (10 months) India to South Africa, 2003 (12 months), Switzerland to India, 2005 (12 months – forced to fly Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan)
-Most number of comments on a single blog:
Jenni Jen has 154 comments on
The Teaching-English-in-Korea Blog
-Most number of 5 stars on a single photo: The most 5 stars on a single photo I have is 21:
-Most number of "Like" on a blog: Jennijen has 61 “Likes” on the same Teaching English blog.
Disclaimer: as an aspiring anthropologist I have to add that such a quantitative approach to travel can only lead to premature miscalculations. No denying its fun though;-)
Reply to this Jason, 2623 days is very impressive - I stand corrected on my claim that no-one would get close to 1561 days :-)
Reply to this I know I'm going to sound completely stupid but, I haven't heard of the 'like' feature before. How do you 'like' a blog & know if someone 'likes' one of your blogs?
Reply to this Liliram, thanks for your personnal bet. Going to be at 100 this year...but let's put it simply...Antartica is not a country...so all accounting is most of the time, not really accurate. My thumb up to Viajerong Pinoy, I don't think I'll never reach his level....for sure!
Longuest trip, I'm 37 years old, does that account for 37 years travelling. (warning: This is a joke!)
Ali deserves his recommendations for a simple fact...he recommends before being recommended!
My parents blog on their travels, in French, I tried to get them over here, but not yet a success...I hope Leslie will start blogging in 2012 (I know when, where and why, but this you'll have to wait for)...so we could one day qualifiying for a 3 generations on TB...this is obviously written with a serious note of humour! At the end of the day, if we are here, it's simply because it's fun!
Reply to this Hi Chris & Nikki,
The 'Like' feature interacts with FaceBook. At the bottom of each blog entry (below the photos, above the comments) is where you'll see the 'Like' and 'Share' buttons, and how many people have done each.
Reply to this You guys are amazing. Will integrate all comments/info --- just busy cruising now 😊)
But really, I'm truly impressed! Hey , who's our youngest and oldest blogger???? (@Leslie, we're waiting for your first blog...)
Reply to this Through My Eyes win on the youngest regular on the first page I think...we shall organize a junior group in a few years time...Oldest bloggers...that's not fair...if you are still on the road at 80....you are young...no?!?
Reply to this Liliram, and what about the bloggers which have blog on the most countries. We all know we can argue about the countries visited count (I'm the first to agree there are tens of way to calculate it)...but i'm sure there must be a simple way to see how many countries a TB member has blog on...lol!
Don't advertise the number of 5 stars on a pic...you just need one idiot to have it down (by simply posting a 4, which is not that bad after all!)...would ruin the fun of the declaration, no?
Oh, and don't we have a family on TB with multiple children travelling/blogging? Could be fun too!
Reply to this And when you think about it, Viajerong Pinoy did blog on around or just over 100 countries...that's impressive!
Reply to this Maisondubonheur , I think that's a good idea re : traveling family with multiple children blogging. About the 5 stars on pics, I didn't know about ruining it if some idiot scores it a 4 or lower.
Bloggers which have blogged on the most countries---- did you mean like how many blogged on India, how many blogged on Canada, etc.? Maybe the system can provide us with stats on this. I'd be curious, but I'm betting on India.
Reply to this Hi Liliram, no for how many countries we have blogged about it's different. I think Gil (Viajerong Pinoy) has blog on about 100 countries, but he has been in 111...which means to me that he has blogged to most of the places he has been. i'm impressed by him!
I'm at 95 countries, but blog only on around 65 countries, there is a simple reason for, I've blogged for less than 4 years, and was travelling already a lot prior to joining TB.
I'm sure Jason has the figure on how many countries he has blogged, must be pretty amazing too.
Never thought about the country counts till I reach 75...and thought...hey, why coming back always to the same places...let's explore a little more...100 in 2011....soon...
