Are there restrictions for bloggers for the 'Hall of Fame' like with blogger of the week i.e. less than 3 recommends?
Reply to this For the Hall of Fame, this year, the nominees must be members of TravelBlog since at least 2009 and have at least 30 blogs. Some exceptions might be made, for particularly interesting or particularly good bloggers.
Reply to this Thanks Mell, gives me an excuse to read loads of blogs nearer the time 😊
Reply to this Truly thankful for the lovely nominations. Wow! Looking forward to reading everyones new blogs for 2011!
Reply to this Wow this is a tough one, so many amazing blogs to choose from :-)
Isnt it! I am having a hard time choosing too. 😊
Maybe a monthly blog treasure hunt throughout the year will help us remember which blogs were our favourites, when it comes time to nominate the best of 2011.
Here is the first one. 😊

Reply to this Many thanks for the nominations! It's great to have made the list twice and to hear that people enjoy the reading of my blogs as much as I enjoy the traveling and writing. Happy New Year to everyone!
Reply to this Thanks guys
Nice to get a mention again. Actually I was really disappointed with my photos of Jiuzhaigou. It really is much more beautiful in real life!
Not many more blogs from us I'm afraid. Our travels are over for awhile - we are back home after 5 years of travel and trying to settle down again. It will only NZ blogs from now on...
Reply to this Many thanks for this nomination and wow it is quite a list of great blogs, lots of reading to come whenever Internet connection allows it!
In the meantime safe & fun travel to everyone!
Laetitia
Reply to this Thanks so much for the nomination. I didn't think I'd travelled enough last year to have written anything much, so this means a lot - thank you!
Reply to this This is a little random, but for what it's worth ...
I think all this "best" stuff is a little silly. Best blog, best writing, best photography ... etc etc. It reminds me a lot of the competition we noticed amongst backpackers while travelling. Who has been to the most exotic place? Farthest off the beaten path? Eaten the weirdest food? Had the scariest experience? The craziest adventure? Travelling on the cheapest budget? We noticed that A LOT while travelling ... this weird competitive bravado: "Oh yah? Well have you been here? Or here? Or done this? Or that?"
I am noticing that a lot on this site lately, that there seems to be an air of competition and "awarding" like some sort of popularity contest in high school, and less about just the simple joy of travelling and celebrating each other's journey's. It's a little disheartening.

Well, it is supposed to be fun, rather than something that is taken deadly seriously....

True! There isnt really a best. The ones chosen are the personal opinions of individuals. All a matter of taste...
Reply to this Thank you very much fellow travellers - I just realised that my Costa Rica blog was included in the final selction and I feel very honoured indeed!
Reply to this @ Two Canadians.
I think it depends how you look at it, yes making a 'best' category of anything can and will attractive competitiveness but by creating such things it also urges people to talk about their travels/experiences more and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that one of the things Travelblog is for?
I can't speak for everyone but I love when people talk about their strangest meal, most exotic place visited etc, it makes me want to read more of their blogs and my 'wish list' of places to visit before I die increases almost daily due to all of the different discussions on Travelblog.
Reply to this We'd like to give awards to all bloggers, as a show of appreciation for putting their blogs, photos and discussions on TravelBlog, rather than on another site. But, we have to let choosing people happen, or else the awards would not be special. The unfortunate downside of this choosing is that some people will feel excluded.
...and less about just the simple joy of travelling and celebrating each other's journey's...
TravelBlog was, is and always will be about travel and travellers. But, action and activities on TravelBlog keep people amused/interested/involved..., so we encourage as much of it as possible, in the form of friendly discussions, friendly competition for awards and whatever else we or members think up that people might like.
Reply to this Wow, I'm really flattered by your nomination :-) thank you!
Reply to this Wow. Thanks for the nomination. Back in Tunisia now and will be blogging to help get tourists back over here.
