the most surprising museum i have been to (surprisingly food that is...) is
Royal Tombs Museum of Sipán - in the town of Lambayeque, Peru

in the middle of basically nowhere is a modern, state-of-the-art inserting museum

good stop on the way from Ecuador to northern Peru Reply to this

I have something of a dislike for museums but, if I had to visit one more than once, it would be London's Natural History Museum - as much for its architectural interest as for its world-renowned exhibits. Reply to this

Diu Museum

This former St. Thomas Church, now transformed into a Museum, houses a lot of important antique statues, inscriptions on the stone by the Ancient rulers, Magnificent wooden carvings, Idols, Shadow-clocks and various other vital artifacts. A majority of these have been collected from the excavations from different sites and exhibited for the general public. Reply to this

Not really much into museums, but been to a lot when living in the US

Most interesting for me is

Holocaust Museum in DC
Museum of Sex in New York
and the Museum of Modern Art NY

But the most interesting for me is Sayamaike museum in Japan, because of the scale of the museum in Sayama, Osaka, dedicated to man made lake. The building was huge and so beautiful surrounded by cascading water and was designed by famous architect Tadao Ando, but it was located in a middle of countryside residential area.

The museum architecture was gorgeous but the subject was so uninteresting, maybe that's why I get to spend many alone time in the museum library during my office break. Reply to this

The most sobering museum I have ever been to was, without a doubt, the Atomic Bomb Museum in Hiroshima, Japan. Reply to this

Visited S21 Tuol Sleng and the Killing Fields today. The most sickening, sobering and harrowing experience of my life. Incomprehensible that human beings can do such things to each other. Reply to this

I really enjoyed the Titanic Artifact Exhibit when it was in Miami, FL. It is now touring other cities I believe. Another museum that I have been dying to go to that I have heard great reviews of is the NYC Lower East Side Tenement Museum. It's a tour of untouched immigrant apartments of many of the Ellis Island immigrants and shows you how they lived, where they worked, etc . . . Reply to this

One must go to the 'Ufizzi' museum in Italy. The whole museum is full of exceptional and incomparable work. It is an amazing museum where you can see masterpieces like Botticelli's "Birth of Venus" and "Primavera” developed by Italian artists. Here you can also have a view of paintings by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. Reply to this

The Mid America Museum, but I can't remember if that's in Hot Springs, or Little Rock Arkansas. The Museum of Natural History in Denver Colorado. The Polynesian Cultural Center and the Bishop Museum on Oahu. Oh, and the Punch Bowl at Diamond Head. And the Morrison Natural History Museum - Colorado. The Desert Museum, and Old Town Museum in Tuscon Arizona. I'll remember some more in a minute. lol Reply to this

I was in the Leprechaun museum, on my recent visit to Dublin. I didnt want to go in at first because there are no such thing as Leprechauns. Then they explained that it is really the museum of Irish mythology and folklore but that name would not have got much attention, so they called it the Leprechaun museum. Tourists get so excited about the sign outside saying 'National Leprechaun Museum' that they crowd around it pointing and taking photos of it.

The museum is worth a visit in my opinion, especially if you have kids. A truely magical experience, with fun loving guides aged 20 something who dont seem to have left their childhood behind and probably never will.

If your into religious art LUMA (Loyola Univ. Museum Of Art) is such an amazing little art Museum. FYI they always have non-religious art on display as well. Last year they had Andy Warhol. It is located on the magnificent Mile, right next to Hershey's in Chicago.

Please come to America. Head to the Texas Panhandle to see:

Devil's Rope Museum
100 Kingsley Street
P.O. Box 290
McLean, Texas 79057

They have the largest collection of barbed wire. It is an amazing collection and a wonderful museum.

If in Texas please take the time. It is high on the unique meter. Reply to this
