I'm doing a little bit of research and i'm wondering if films have ever influenced your travel plans, or may they in the future?

Hey,
I'm doing a little bit of research and i'm wondering if films have ever influenced your travel plans, or may they in the future? I'm particularly interested in films relating to Greece but any films which may or have influenced you would be of interest. Also what is it about the films which motivate you?

Thank you for helping. Reply to this

Hello Louise 😊

Yes, films influence my travel. I watch a lot of alternative movies, when I visit Ireland and some of them prompt me to visit certain coutries.

The Irish Film Centre in Temple Bar, Dublin is where I go to see them.

Hi Louise, yep films can definitely influence me.

Even when it's about a dreadful occurrence in a country's history, e.g. The Kite Runner and modern Afghanistan or Last King of Scotland and Uganda under Amin etc. I love looking at the scenery and hoping I can visit one day (obviously when it is safe to do so). I haven't watched Captain Correlli's Mandolin (but I have read the book) and I can imagine I would love seeing the Greek islands in the backdrop to that film.

Actually, I'm more of a book than a film person and find they can be even more evocative and make me want to visit the places described. Reply to this

The Last Emperor was definitely a motivation for me to visit the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade inspired my journey to Petra.

Hotel Rwanda convinced me to stay longer in the country (I was already planning a few days for gorilla trekking).
