We are going to spend 9 mth is Europe and will be landing in Italy - Milan to start and the will fly out of London.
How hard is it to get a cheap car in Italy to drive around Europe and then sell in 9 mths when we get to London?
Has anyone else done this? Any help or advice would be great.

Also we are looking for some cheap accommodation in Milan for a few nights while we go to the bike show we would like to be close to the bike show.

Thanks Deborah

hi Deborah,

Italy is not Brazil, it won't be so easy to find a deal..well, it also depends what you mean by "cheap". Anyways if your're really convinced of this idea, try to check online, like on www.automotori.com.

Although quite a challenge (and unfortunately standards are pretty low) but you could find some interesting <snip>here!

Hope you enjoy your trip! ciao!

You can also check for real hotel reviews here, according to your budget

anyways, my personal tip, try in any case to find a central location, especially in Milan, otherwise you'l lhave a hard time going around there..not necessarily the Duomo, actually a very nice and central area is Porta Romana!

Well there are many options for that. One is you can rent a car if your just staying in a place for 1-3months. You can find a lot of good deals in the internet. Second is to get a rail pass so you can just hop on and off any railway offered in the Eurail Network. If you really want to buy and sell a car, pick a second hand. Remember to choose wisely, get a good condition car so that you can easily sell it afterwards. Otherwise good luck.

Thanks Mr Traveler I do want a second hand one and one that I can re sell at the end. I will be in Europe and the UK 9 mths in total and really like the freedom of a car. I ride Motorbikes at home but will be there in winter and have to mush stuff with me for a Motorbike.

i think it shouldn't be very difficult since italy is famous with their small economy cars so you will find a deal for sure. I think buying a cir will be much cheaper than renting it for 9 months! and you can resell it after like you said.
