Travelling in Bolivia

What the situation is in Bolivia in terms of road blocks and things like that. Are there any areas which should be avoided? Any other comments about safety in Bolivia?

Hello,

I am due to enter Bolivia in about a week time but news coming through here are pretty grim. Is anyone in Bolivia at the moment that can advise on the situation there in terms of road blocks and safety. Are there places that I should definitely avoid?

Many thanks

Hello Pamela 😊

Here is a related thread. It is a month old but maybe the same information still applies.

Hi Pamela

We´re in Bolivia at the moment and have been here for a week and a half with no problems (Copacabana, La Paz and Rurrenabaque). It´s a big country and from where we´ve been you wouldn´t even realise there were such big problems in the other regions.

There are currently three regions that the UK foreign office advise you to avoid, they are Pando, Tarija and Beni. If you stay away from these and Santa Cruz and avoid any public demonstrations you should be fine. Also keeping a close eye on developments.

We plan to go to Sucre, Pototsi and Salar De Uyuni (Salt Flats) over the coming weeks all of which should be fine to visit.

Best wishes
