Well, after typing a lot the computer lost power and i lost my blog entry, meaning i will keep it short and sweet. I arrived in guayaquil the next day at about 1pm and spent the afternoon doing the parks, churches, malecon and market. The hostel i was in had a range of vegie foods, so i treated myself to a $4 quinoa burger and salad. There were heaps of nice shopping areas, walking areas and juice bars. The next day i walked el malecon along the river and headed to las penas where i hiked 444 stairs to a lighthouse and church on a hill. After this i checked out an interesting art museum (free) and took a taxi to parque historical, which was park zoo, part colonial reconstructed town and part botanical gardens. I ... read more

To get to Isabela, the third island on our epic volunteering adventure, we had to take two boats across the wild Pacific Ocean. One from San Cristobal back to Santa Cruz, then one from Santa Cruz to Isabela. All in all about 4 hours. To avoid any form of sea sickness, W and las chicas took appropriate tablets. Sadly, instaed of just taking one, they doubled the dosage and spent the whole time sleeping. Okay, they weren’t sea sick, but if the boat had capsized your correspondent wasn’t planning to hang around to wake them up !!! Thankfully neither happened and the journey passed uneventfully apart from the kraken that attacked us. Our voluntary work on the island this week, consisted of absolutely nothing. Geo: -0.958105, -90.9651I dag har vi vært på guidet tur til den største av Galapagosyene - Isabella. Turen startet tidlig - kl 0700. Vi kjørte i en rask motorbåt med plass til 17 personer, så den var ikke så veldig stor. Stillehavet viser seg ikke å være så veldig stille. Det var store dønninger - kan tenke meg at det var 6-7 meter høye bølger på det værste, den lille båten vår kjørte fort og det ble en del risting - noe i alle fall Camilla syntes var ubehagelig. Turen tok 2 timer og 20 min og vi var vel glade når vi endelig kom frem… Vi ble omvist i et skilpadde-klekkeri - hvor det var skilpadder i alle størrelser.
