Our last Island that we had the chance to visit, was the famous Bounty Island. There have been a few TV Shows that have been filmed here. It was such a relaxed but also very busy party Island. There was singing and dancing, the biggest buffet meal so far and also desert and there was also a swimming pool and a pool table. What a great time. to our dissapointment we were only here for that night, but it was a great night, that was for sure. They had great cocktails and not to meantion CHEAP too. We headed to our rooms and to our surprise we had AIR CONDITIONING .... Yip that is right, the best thing you could have in your room in Fiji, we also had a fridge with ice cold water too. ... read more

Kuata was our 3rd island that we visited on our trip around the Yasawa Islands. i found that is Island was more filled of the younger generation and the younger families of Fiji, rather than the older generation. We arrived in the evening and myself and Mandy climbed the sumit to see the sunset. It as a little cloudy but not too bad. Great exercise. our living qauters were great ... well great in the fact that we had our own bathroom... it was great. No more sharded facilites. There were a great range of activies that we were able to do on this Island. We had Jet skiing, caving diving, snorkling with reef sharks and much more. we spent most of our days sunbathing and snorkling.... it was great. We were here for 2 nights ... read more

Our second Island was Manta Ray Island, this was more of a Upper Class Resort. Amazing living facilities and great food and entertainment. We were only here for 1 night but it was one of our best nights so far. Mandy and I got Upgraded into a little hut that was situated off the beach and amoungst a whole lot of tropical tress. We also had a fan in our room, great thing to have in any room in Fiji. We had a great buffet dinner which was followed by a traditional song and dance that was put on by the village people. There was a storm that night but there was no rain and now wind, only lightening. We spent most of our days sunbathing and snorkling. to our dissapointment it was not Manta Ray ... read more

Beautifull Fiji Well the trip begins in the beautifull Yasawa Islands of Fiji. Myself and Mandy ( travel buddy) spent the 1st night at Nadi in a lovely hotel that was situated at the waters edge. We had an outdoor pool, which was surounded but palm tress and hamics galour. Early that morning we departed for our cruise around the Yasawa Islands. After spending 4 1/2 hours on a boat we finally reached out 1st Island. We stayed in the lovely Sunset Island Resort. Mandy and I had the Bure package, which meant that we had a room to ourselves, rather than sharing a dorm with 8 or 12 others. Glad we did that, as the heat was unbareable in the dorms. We stayed at Sunset Resort for 2 nights, and a great 2 nights it ... read more

We slammed onto the runway in Nadi in the middle of a tropical thunderstorm. Zero visability on the runway, and it appeared that the plane's altimeter needed recalibrating because we really walloped the runway. We spent only 1 night near Nadi (pronounced Nandi) before heading out to the Yasawa islands. The boat trip north to the Yasawas is spectacular. It takes you past the Mamanuca islands which are a string of coral islands that look exactly how you would draw a desert island; a lump of coral/sand only just peeping out above the sea. The islands are covered in palm trees and are surrounded by fringe reefs. Pretty attractive. The Yasawas are a bit further north and are rock based islands. They rise further from the sea and are more interesting - I think. They have ... read more

Looking back at the Fiji Islands weeks ago, I realize that the Fiji islands were closer to paradise than I have ever been. Everything from the turquoise and crystal clear water to the numerous islands which looked like small plots of lush green volcanic land made me feel like I had entered Never Neverland . Rachel and I took a five hour ferry to the farthest island, Nacula, in the Yasawas. We stayed at a resort right across from the Blue Lagoon Island, where the movie The Blue Lagoon was filmed. Nacula looked exactly like the island did in the Blue Lagoon, there were hermit crabs all over the beach, papaya, coconut and banana trees everywhere and mountains and tropical forests inland. Although I got an ear infection from the rain pelting against my head ... read more

Two weeks of sun, sea, sand, boats, more boats, red sunsets and loads of snorkeling. Fiji looks just as you see it in all the travel ads and brochures. Azure sea, white sand, palm trees, volcanic landscapes, green hills and beautiful coral reefs. Our flight to Fiji was an easy 3 hours from Auckland, and we were ushered to our hotel - Nadi Bay Hotel - a few kms from the airport, where we had just enough time to dump our bags and join in a traditional kava ceremony. We had no idea we would get to taste the famous kava within an hour of landing in Fiji. Kava is ground from the root of a plant related to the pepper tree and mixed with water, so you can imagine what it tastes like - it ... read more

We landed in Fiji after what seemed to be a lifetime, but was actually 29.5 hours from beginning to end. The beginning being New York City and the end, a small island, in the Yasawa Islands of Fiji. The last leg of the trip was the most eventful. We rode in a small boat through the crystal clear turquoise/jade waters of the South Pacific, into a torrential, truly South Pacific monsoon rainstorm. After being bounced up and down on the wooden bench seats through what seemed like, through my sleep deprived eyes, 20 foot tsunami waves,we luckily arrived in one piece to Nacula Island. We were warmly greeted with huge smiles shouting "Bula!" which means hello. My five days on the island were filled with nothing but pure relaxation. My hang out spot was the hammock ... read more

My first stop on my quest around the world was Fiji. Aside from the fact that I had everyone around me telling me I was crazy for just taking off alone, the forecast for Fiji right before I left did not tell me great things either. Rain, rain, rain, all week! Well, what could I really do at this point. The weather gets involved in everything, but lo and behold... I went to Fiji. After visiting a friend in L.A., I stepped onto a long overnight flight to Fiji. Let me say, I was nervous! All those months of planning had dissolved and that paper ticket turned into the real thing. Fiji was the first and last flight that I was able to sleep on for the next seven months. Why? I still don't have that ... read more
