The Title u will understand later....
Well after a complete technology break for the two weeks while we were in Fiji we are back lol well we are in New Zealand! SO in Fiji we got a 14 Day Bula pass which allowed us to travel freely around the Yasawa and Mamanucan Isalands which was amzing we took in 7 of the Island in all I dont have time to write about them all now but i will later basically all stunningly beautiful really hot and humid and lots of lizards spiders and mossies arrrggghhh!!!
oh and happy st patricks day !!!!
So I have decided to make time and tell u all about Fiji !!! We stayed at the Nadi (pronounced Nandi) bay hotel on the main Island of Fiji for a night when we first arrived from USA so we could organise our itinerary we booked a BULA (hello in Fijian) pass for 14 days which allowed us to move around any of the Yasawa or Mamanucan group of islands.
Day 1: 28th Feb we caught the boat up to the very Northern Yasawa islands and stopped at Nabua Lodge on the Island of Nacula we
had a warm welcome from the staff and people of the village on the Island, our dorm was a traditional Bure style, in other words it was a large hut type building made out of straw leaves and wood. And there were bugs …oh yes there were and to add to it someone had stuck what I hoped was a pretend HUGE SPIDER onto the roof above my bed ( I was just praying my mossie net would keep bigger things out too. But neway back to the story so we were welcomed with lunch which was very nice and very unexpected but we were to learn not uncommon. And also by a very strange guy called Vicki coming over to the manager and telling him the shower was spraying spiders instead of water (OH MY GOD) but of course very calmly as with all fijians he told him it was ok. Well I wont be using that shower lol. So after a few days in Nacula soaking up the sun and relaxing on the hammocks we made the 5 min journey across the bay to Sunrise Lagoon.
Day 3: Sunrise Lagoon , Nanuya Lailai. So what I forgot
to tell u about the Islands is of course they don’t have any water or electricity so at Nabua lodge we were drinking rain water which was grand and the generator only ran from 6pm until 10pm so getting up to go to the loo in the middle of the night was interesting I think instead of helping my fear of the dark it has only made me more scared as u had to cntend with giant beach crabs running about and lizards which u never knew were they would turn up !! So sunrise Lagoon was nice but had way too many people for my liking , but we hiked across the Island to the Blue Lagoon which was beautiful and on the way back I broke yet another camera by dropping it (only for a second ) into the water so now I will explain the title of this entry. I started out with a Kodak Digital camera a phone and an MP3 player as did Amanda my camera met its death after I dropped it down a Sand Dune in Death Valley so I replaced it with a class new Kodak (a cost I really didn’t need
) so not long after this amandas mp3 player went on the blink and decided it would only turn on when it felt like it and not when she wanted it to. So as I said above my second camera met its Death in Fiji ( a nice place to go I guess) and then Amandas camera gave up the ghost so we almost came away from Fiji with no pictures. So in Nadi airport we both bought new cameras and amanda bought and ipod shuffle. Only to find out that when we got to NZ her mp3 player had decided to work AGAIN!!!! And finally to add insult to injury now my phone has died so I don’t have anyone phone numbers AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!! Just had to tell u all that !
Day 5: Long Beach on the Island of Matacawelevu, so up until this point both me and Amanda hadnt been bitten by mossies which we put down to the fact that we had been taking Vit B12 well let me tell u no matter who u are u will get bitten on Long Beach there are sooo many Mossies in one night I got 120 bites on
one leg …I gave up counting after that But other than that it was a nice place from there we went onto Manta Ray resort which I thought was too modern and not Fijian enough
Then onto Octopus Resort which is the resort that I would recommend coming to on holiday it is reasonably priced and has mod cons but is still very Fijian in its style. While we were there there was a wedding and a new baby born in the village so it was eventful if nothing else.
After this we went to Bounty which was a nice place but way to many people and too commercial it was were celeb love Island was made although they have long since knocked down the set.
Our Final stop on the Islands was South Sea which is a tiny little Island just 15mins of the coast of Denarau. U can walk around the Island in just 5 mins but it was amazing I ahd such a great time and made good friends and anyone I have spoken to since says the same. It was actually the only Island I felt quite sad leaving.
