Počítač si pamatoval moje poslední vyhledávání a nechal mě letět o den dřív. Hned volám Fiji linku a prerezervovani by stalo $200. ... read more

Wednesday, March 04, 2014 Today is our last day to visit a location on our trip before we start our return journey to Sydney. Today we are visiting Lautoka, Fiji. Today we are going to a Westin Resort and Spa located on the ocean. We will see a Fire Walking ceremony. Lautoka is actually on the eastern side of the same island we visited yesterday. As we were coming into the port, I went out on deck 4 to see what the countryside looked like. From what I could see, this port looks more developed than Suva, Fiji that we visited yesterday. After eating breakfast in the Windjammer again, we meet for our tour at 8:30am in the La Strada theatre. Before arriving in the theatre, we meet a lady in the elevator that ... read more

In Transit Possibly the two most frown inducing words in the world. Expensive food, uncomfortable seats and the ever present smell of body odour relegates you to the world of travel no-mans land. The worst part is that it is necessary for the budget traveller to traverse this waste land more often than not. By saving money on accommodation and catching the red eye out of Perth it meant that the 7 hour layover in Sydney was always going to be a hardship. Couple that with luggage carousels (why don't they let you ride on them), and the constant threat of being stuck on an uncomfortable airport lounge next to someone that wants to shave their legs (yes that actually happened) and it becomes the "perfect storm". There are definitely some deciding factors that relate to ... read more

Wednesday 29th We catch the 6.30am bus to the airport and all goes smoothly and we fly to Sydney. We change terminals and go to book in with Air Pacific for our onward flight to Fiji. We then find that there’s a problem. Our Agent hasn’t issued us any tickets for the flight and they won’t let us on ! After a lot of talking they agree to sell us new tickets to Fiji and then on to New Zealand. We have to pay again for the flights and hope our Agent refunds the cost, I’m not hopeful. Finally we take off and say goodbye to Australia after four wonderful months. The plane’s new but it seems the airline spent all their money on it as the in flight meal is a chicken burger and two ... read more

Bula Bula, Bula Bula Bula - that's Fijian for...well, anything you want it to be really! - They seem to say it at any and every occasion possible The first long stop of my trip by myself had arrived - I had a week to spend in Fiji before crossing the dateline and making my way back home, and it was time for relaxation! Unfortunately the weather decided it didn't want to let me enjoy Fiji at its best, and gave me only 3 of 7 days with nice weather, but I made the most of them Arriving at the airport I was collected by the owners of the hostel I was staying in, before eventually getting to my huge room! Paying just £25 a night, I had my own room with three beds, on a ... read more

The Coral Coast of Fiji has left me with A lifetime of warm, happy and joyous memories. Pristine aqua waters that sparkle and reach out forever, beyond glittering white sands. Sounds of the gentle swaying of palm trees whispering about the love of life, and the honour it is to be here. People go about their business with an inner pride and love for life. Beautiful smiles that greet you, a stranger, exuding all the warmth and help they are prepared to give. A frangipani is placed in your hair to welcome you into their world, and with it comes an invitation to share and enjoy their lives. Untouched nature in all its glory quietly beckons and consumes me as I wander about, in total awe and contentment. Beaches begging to be discovered, silently inviting us ... read more

My second day in Nadi was more than just a little humid. I suppose everyday here has 50%+ humidity and i should just get used to it. lol Anyways I started the day early to beat the heat and take a walk. Down the road i came across a larger resort that was much busier than my little hostel, i made a mental note to stop by later. I had it in my mind that today I was going to get out a scour the whole island not stop, but the humidity proved too much for me as I was still adjusting. I decided to spend the rest of the afternoon out by the pool and catching up on some reading in my hostel until later that night. Around 6 I took a walk back down ... read more

So here I am in Nadi! Many of my friends back home that have been to Fiji told me to skip Nadi altogether and head to the surrounding islands. I plan to stay and see for myself what Nadi has to offer. As I have just arrived at Bamboo Hostel all i can relate to you so far is the airport and check-in at said hostel. The airport was nice, just visibly old (old carpeting and upholstery on the seats). I wanted to connect to the internet at the airport Wi-Fi to post about my flight but the hassle of their Wi-Fi connection procedure had me frustrated and heading for the nearest taxi. LOL the taxis here are a hilarious occasion, you can pack as many people as will fit into the taxi, but at the ... read more

Some highlights from our Fiji experience while we stayed at Mango Bay: The men singing and playing the guitar to welcome you as you land into the airport Everyone shouting "Bula" to you. Discovering a love for beach volleyball and table tennis Playing touch rugby with the men in the village....Tom had previously thought Wales was a rugby crazy nation but Fiji is something else! About 50 men from the village of only a couple of hundred meet to play rugby every night. We were invited to have dinner with one of the local families by a woman called Riabi who we met on the beach while she was selling jewellery and sarongs; a great chance to try some authentic Fijian food and experience the culture. The food was delicious, fresh fish poached in coconut milk, ... read more

Arrived at Fiji airport to a wave of tropical heat and a cheery welcoming band. Quickly adjusted to relaxed "Fiji-time" by lazing and swimming at the resort pool with a brief trip to Nadi to see the colourful Hindu temple, stopping for a freshly-cut coconut en-route. Next day hopped on a 5 to-a-row local bus across Viti-Levu to Suva the chaotic capital, staying at the aptly named Raintree lodge on the edge of the jungle. Took a very hot and muggy guided trek through the Colo-i-Suva forest park, slipping and sliding over rocks and muddy paths to waterfalls before visiting the national museum with its giant ocean-going canoes and tales of cannibalism (and dodging the heavy tropical thunderstorms that started to flood the museum !). Travelled up to the Navua valley in the highlands for a ... read more
