Today was a relatively quiet day. The main activity consisted of driving the Burong Coastal Drive from Cape Paterson to Inverloch. It has been dubbed as the "mini-ocean road" so how could I not drive it! This portion is less than 20 km but passes numerous points of interest where one sees unique rock formations, sandy beaches, the odd rock pool, and of course lovely coastal scenery. The nice part for me was there was typically beach access so I would spend time at each location walking around and absorbing whatever was going on. All of the stop points were in fact part of the Burong Marine National park as of course the focus is on life by the water. Unfortunately, I did not see The Caves as it was high tide and I did not ... read more

23/2/18 It is our last weekend. Charlotte and Ollie decided to make it a long weekend and took Friday off work so that we could travel to Wilsons Promitory. We found a house that we could rent, in a town called Inverloch and booked it via Booking.com. Before we set off, we thought it was a good idea to have a decent breakfast inside us. The cafe suggested by C & O was round the corner from their flat but you would not find it unless you knew. This cafe had a good business purely by word of mouth, mainly by locals. The menu was very different with lots of food combinations that I would not have thought of. I eventually ordered my breakfast that was ham hock on a bed of cauliflower cheese with burnt ... read more

Day 3 (25/5/2016) Got up at 8:30am to go fishing. Again. And no fish. Again. Must have forgotten how to fish; perhaps I am getting dementia! So much for catching the meals instead of having to buy food. Returned back to the van for bacon & eggs lunch. With the cold & wet weather settling in we cooked dinner in the Camp Kitchen which boasts 2 fan forced ovens, 2 BBQ’s, 4 hotplates, 2 sinks, 2 fridge/freezers, TV & plenty of seating. Cooked up a couple of nice country Rump Steaks & some boiled potatoes along with some Mushroom & Garlic sauce and a few alcoholic beverages! Day 4 (26/5/2016) Up for an early breakfast & then off on the road for the short trip to Leongatha. Pouring with rain that had settled in for the ... read more

Day 1 (23/5/2016) Left home at 10:45am. Topped up with diesel to get a true indicator of fuel economy with the new performance chip installed. Wild & windy trip with some severe crosswinds. Arrived in Inverloch at 12:35 with a fuel economy of 9.8L/100KM. Had a lukewarm bite to eat at the bakery, picked up a few essentials from the shop & started the caravan set up at the RACV Resort. Blustery winds made putting up the annex a real challenge with Deb nearly being blown off of her “vertically challenged” stool. In between the huge wind gusts came bursts of rain that made it a stop/start affair. After finally getting the annexe up & pegged down, I drilled & siliconed the screws into the new side channels to give the annexe more hold. After the ... read more

Last day at work and 6 more sleeps to go! Goodbye Basscoast, hello the open road and on to the next chapter in this occasionally turbulent, always chaotic, family centric, love and laugh filled life that is Lynn! Sad to go, sorry to say goodbye to some very lovely people that have seen the fun AND the dark side of me, BUT! super super excited for the future ESPECIALLY the next 3 months! Looking forward to red dust, magnificent oceans, snappy crocodiles, oh yes the fivesies with the grey nomads..,. (okay the OTHER grey nomads, we are part of them now...sigh...). And most especially the massive ancient old trees in the Daintree, that's our Very first real stop and I'm going to sit very, very quietly under the biggest tree possible and breathe... Yep, just breathe... ... read more

Between Wonthaggi and Inverloch on the coastal road is Cape Paterson with its nasty twin reefs. Sunday dawned windy and cold, but the bleak rain of Saturday has moved on, and by the afternoon we had patches of bright sun. We visited the local Baptist Curch at Wonthaggi for Communion in the morning. Looks to be a historic building well maintained and modern facilities. Folk who greeted us were very friendly, and it is lucky we got there early as the ushers needed a shoe horn to get everyone in. In the afternoon we drove to Cape Paterson for a 'Sunday afternoon drive', or in my case (and Margs) another photo opportunity. I never tire of photographing the moods of the sea. Today the surf was running having had a strong southerly (chilly) wind for the ... read more
