29TH September 2t i012, Packed up the campsite after making Alyssa a pancake breakfast for her 11th birthday. Decided to accept Kylie and Quentin on their generous offer to celebrate Alyssa's birthday at their house and spend the night. Yeah!!! running water and long showers was the words expressed by Princess Sasha. Arrived at the Stein house and was greeted by the beautiful girls, Grace, Lily, Anais, Eve and georgeous Jonah. Special thanks to the Stein's for making my baby girls birthday such a memorable one.... read more

28TH September 2012, It stormed and blew strong wind all last night and into the morning. Not a great today. Spent most of day watching movies and playing UNO. I guess it's like being house bound. The campgrounds are desserted with most people choosing to depart. We are leaving after breakfast tomorrow and spending Alyssa's birthday with her best friend Grace at their home in Wagga Wagga. Daniel set Yabbie traps last night and finally bought me a fishing rod (no luck catching anything yet, but I just like the act of fishing). Spent the night sitting by the fire, enjoying the stars (luckily the rain stopped and the wind eased in the evening).... read more

27TH September 2012 Woke up this morning to the sound of the Murrumbidgee River flowing at Oura Beach Reserve camping grounds. Just 20km out of Wagga Wagga and a picturesque view. Enjoyed breakfast before we went or a walk around the campgrounds. Made Malaysian noodles with egg and scones for lunch. I am not going without the modern ammentities and good food. Camping the Nicoll style. The weather however turned nasty in the early evening, it stormed and rained with such strong wind. I thought our roof top tents were going to fly away (luckily they are attached to the car). Two more days till my baby's (Alyssa) birthday.... read more

My journey to Wagga Wagga began one Wednesday afternoon 2 weeks ago (approx) when my boss called me up and asked if I could cover on call for a work collegue in Junee*. I did not hesitate with my reply nothing not even the thought of not seeing my little dog (or my girlfriend) for three nights would stop me from visiting the majestic Wagga Wagga (about 30 mins from Junee). I arrived in Wagga Wagga (I will now call Wagga Wagga Wagga as Wagga Wagga is much to long) to the luxurios Pavilion hotel (please see photos or if I have not attached photos please imagine a photo) set my bags down with grand intentions of hitting the streets of Wagga and getting amongst the culture. Instead I ate 2 packs of chips from the ... read more

Left Ballarat after a fairly horrendous night. A storm began just as we were going to bed. We have been in heavy rain before while in the van and it has never been a problem, however this night it was. The old tin can has sprung a leak. As Ian was Lying in bed he had a constant drip, drip, drip on his chest and Xavier had water just seeping into his bed via the back wall. So some major moving around had to be done. Ian removed the table and set up a bed on the floor. I slept with the baking dish, collecting the water and waking every so often when a big splash made it to my face or the remant odours of baked dinners long gone wafted across the bed. Poor Xav ... read more

Blog 16 Boggy Wagga Wagga Our previous blog finished with our weekend trip from Wagga Wagga to our Nation’s Capital for Floriade. We returned to Wagga Wagga and checked in to a different van park from before the weekend. We mentioned that we were looking for work, so the next day Wendy had a trial shift on the cleaning team in the cabins. She must have impressed the manager because she worked 7 days straight, and has worked on and off ever since. They are only short shifts so it wasn’t too taxing. The rain kept coming and the river rose again. You’ll remember that when we arrived here back in early September, the Wagga Beach Caravan Park Manager, (in the job for only 1 week) was anxiously watching the river level as it peaked. Well, ... read more

Continuing on from the last edition - late August. 21st August was the day of the Federal Election. We both worked as polling booth attendants at Eden Marine High School. This was a very interesting job, though tiring at the end of a long day. We’ll line up for the next election…whenever that is. Mel, Gareth and Maya returned home from Europe towards the end of August. We stayed on for another 10 days and therefore were still down the south coast when it was buffeted by gale-force winds and many roads were blocked by fallen trees. We were quite sheltered and were able to enjoy cooking a camp-oven roast in the back yard. After enjoying Fathers day with family, we departed the following day. It was hard to leave but we had been there for ... read more

DAY 390 Today I was hoping to share something a little bit exciting with you, but that has not worked out as expected. A beautiful start to the day with the daylight streaming in, Andy as usual up before me, but today I did not receive a cup of tea in bed, I awoke at 7.00 and stayed in bed, well it was cosy, until 7.15. But then I had to be up and in the shower, I left Andy sitting at the bottom the bed working on the blog, in the shower I used my new secret weapon, the non slip mat to ensure that I did not slip on the wet floor, it worked a treat, I left the shower unscathed. As soon as I had showered, I grabbed the bread, butter, jam, cup, ... read more

DAY 389 Andy was up and out first, I was snug and warm in bed, I could not see the sunshine as we had all the flaps closed on the tent to keep warm last night, I cannot believe how cold it was last night. I got up at about 7.30, the birds were tweeting, I could see a glimmer of sunshine on the canvas and could hear Andy in the camp kitchen chatting to someone on Skype, I knew it was on Skype as I could only hear one person talking, he was chatting to his sister Jane. Wow the first day of summer and we are sat in the camp kitchen wearing a fleece, the sun is shining but the morning is cool, the sky looks full of promise today with barely a cloud ... read more

DAY 384 We both had a bad nights sleep, everything seemed to disturb us, not just the camper next to us that went to the camp kitchen at 11.30 and turned the TV on and left the volume turned up, that did not last for long, but then he went back to his camper and could not have made more noise if he tried. It was a warm night so most of the mosquito nets were exposed, a nice cool breeze started which was very pleasant but at some point turned into a fairly high wind then the wind turned quite cold so we both dived under the sleeping bag, I have no idea what time the rain came but I jumped out of bed to close the outer flap before the rain came in, I ... read more
