I had an absolutely amazing time in Queenstown, partying by night and chilling by day. I had some great friends by this point and it was so good to dance the nights away with them and explore the beautiful town during the day. Queenstown really is stunning - it's surrounded by mountains and has a huge lake which seems to have tides and waves. The Maori have a lovely story about it containing the heart of a girl who fell in love but it all went wrong, and the waves are her beating heart. I have to admit I wasn't entirely listening to the story at this point as I was too distracted by the scenery so I'm afraid that's all I can remember of that story! We had a day of culture checking out the museums Sydney has to offer today. We started with the Australian Museum just behind Hyde Park. It was a (much) smaller version of the Natural History Museum in London really, but with an Australian twist. We checked out the skeletons exhibition... where Jo had fun riding the skeleton bike. Then it was upstairs to the insect room, and reptiles room. We also got to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition for free… where Will was inspired to try and replicate some of the images with his own camera. The end has arrived! After 10 weeks we're on our last day :( Looking forward to a British Christmas though - hearing Xmas songs by the beach still seems strange! Since the last time we wrote we've made our way from Brisbane to Sydney, stopping at Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay on the way. The Holiday Inn experience spoiled us in Brisbane and Surfers Paradise, but we were treated to the harsh reality of backpacking again in Byron Bay! The Australia Zoo in Brisbane was a great day out and a way to meet the native wildlife. It was Steve Irwin's zoo which was pretty awesome; saw some pretty huge crocs and more kangaroos.
