The guesthouse in Phuket wasn't the best. The room was massive though and full of little guests! I was exploring around the door and Hannah said "Get out, just get out!!" so I legged it and went back to see why as she was still speechless and there was a massive spider on the door! It was about the size of my hand and so big I couldn’t fit it into the glass to put it outside!! So we had to call the Thai man who found it very funny, “Oh spider” until he saw the size of it and had to eventually kill it to get it outside! This made me sad but it think it might have been one that bit you so hey ho! Had an awful nights sleep as me and Hannah could agree on the sheet distribution (we were sharing a double bed, despite the size of the room!).
We got up at 5.30am the next day to get the plane to Singapore. At the airport, they announced they’re previously unadvertised 500 baht service charge! Not even airport tax!! So we had to prat around getting tax back from Hannah’s purchases and changing one dollar
notes just to get pay this silly fee! It was so annoying!
The plane was cute but tiny and we got to Singapore airport without any hitches and that ends the trip in Thailand. To sum up, I loved Thailand, apart from the weather. I even, towards the end of the trip, got to find some Thai dishes that I liked and as the weather got better I appreciated how beautiful Thailand really can be. It’s a shame that the weather ruined it for so long. Ooh forgot to say, is Silv still working at O2? Has he been away over Christmas and come back uncharacteristically happy? As I swear I saw him walking past a Go-Go bar, wearing a Hawaiian shirt and rubbing his hands. I even took a second look and the likeness was uncanny!!!
We checked in early at Singapore Airport and had a panic in the make-up section and then lounged in the airport cinema. Singapore airport is really cool and there’s a lot to do if you can be bothered to look for it! The flight to OZ was awful-ish. We were sat next to a lovely English lady who was visiting her
son. Managed to sleep for a bit but my new neck cushion, or rather inflatable snooze cushion had a hole in it. Gutted. (For all those interested I lost the other one on the road to Cambodia!). The eye mask worked perfectly but that’s not the point. I can’t believe I’ve now got to buy a third.
Anyway, got to Oz and the sun was shining and it was beautiful and hot. We got to the apartment, which is fine. Two beds, one room, a bathroom and a kitchen, very overcharged. The first day we ran around like headless chickens, whilst looking at the lovely beach view and all the attractive young men walking around half naked. I’m going to have to buy some darker sunglasses as keep being spotted having lingering sneaky peaks!! Oops!!! (see dad I told you I’m not gay!).
Anyway, New Years Eve, I got my hair cut, got ready and went and met Siobhan, Lincoln, John and some of their friends at Croemer Point, which overlooks the Harbor Bridge and Opera House. This was my first glimpse of the Opera House and made me realize that I was actually in Oz.
The
sun set over the bridge which was really special and then we saw the 9 o’clock fireworks. They’re so posh here they even have a prelude, very good. Then we went to Lunar Park, where there were lots of rides and three good dance rooms. The park was just under and to the right of the bridge and was an amazing place to watch the fireworks at midnight. They were the best ever (apparently) and had some coming off the bridge like waterfalls, some that exploded in the shape of hearts and lots of big beautiful colors and shapes. The show is also repeated across the river so that everyone can see them and they’re so perfectly timed it’s like watching a mirror image. Needless to say I got very confused at first!! And a bit later on two!!!
We then went on a ride that wasn’t particularly scary for its height or tricks but more so for its ricketyness! I thought at least twice I was going to come out of the top!!! The best bit about that ride was watching the boys and their testosterone try and beat each other in the mallet thing where you have
to hit the bit on the floor hard enough so that it dings, you know what I mean!!
Then we went to watch Joey Negro and he was really good. We stole some glow sticks from the ceiling and danced lots!! It shut at 3am though which was pants and even worse it took us almost two hours to get back to Shiv’s apartment. Which was beautiful. Lincoln gave us all Mescal which made me and Shiv sick and we watched the sun come up on their beautiful balcony, whilst wearing an afro (for me) and a hat (for Shiv). I woke up in the morning in a ridiculous heat and promptly went to the loo, which set the scene for the whole day. Not nice I know, but I thought you should suffer with me!!
It was 44 degress on New Years Day, the hottest its been for about 69 years I think and I can’t explain to you the heat. Shiv’s apartment has one whole side made of glass and no air-con, so at first it was hotter in the room than outside. Buit as things really got going it was hotter outsidfe, which I didn’t
hink was possible. I didn’t know what to do with myself or where to put myself, and here was me previoulsy moaning about some rain, pahh!!!
Next day my birthday, hurrah. The girls bought me some beautiful Mac make-up, thank you and still feeling a little tender went to the Hard Rock Café. Where I was serenaded by some cockney boys singing Happy Birthday, I take back my previous comments! Shiv and co. met up with us later and saw Zoe for a bit but Lee needed some tea. We tried in vain to find a club for a bit but then I didn’t feel well again and so we went home. The 3rd, felt awful, went on the internet for a bit and was meant to meet Zoe for tea but didn’t feel well enough so stayed at home.
Then today, the 4th we have been to town trying to find jobs, booooo!! Money is running out at a scary speed and need to find work ASAP otherwise will be home faster than you can say Moosechief (for all those Get-Along-Gang fans you know what I’m talking about!!!). Have a couple of interviews tomorrow and also need
to find somewhere else to stay as get chucked out very soon.
As I hope you’ve noticed I’ve not been to the beach yet in Oz, the weather has become overcast (nooo not again) and I haven’t really been out properly, well not with the girls anyway. Could this be the shortest and least fun trip yet? (Not counting Bali of course, although that was lots of fun with “The Cool Ones”). Tune in to receive the next episode of “Traveling Capers with Jackie!”!!
Hope you’re all well and had good Christmas’ and New Years etc. Make sure you email me with your goings-ons. You may have noticed that the spelling is better on these last two entries, that’s because they have Word here! Yey, hurrah for Bill Gates!!!
Bye!!!
Lots of love
