Hmm Tasty!
This was the Shrimp and minced pork dish i rustled up! Hi
As the more observant of you will notice I'm kind of cheating with the dates of the next in as I didn't want to lump it all under one!!
Any who! On the 21st of December didn’t really do anything. The weather was pants and Lauren and Lyds decided that they wanted to go to Australia early. So we mooched around, bought some new things (oops) and went out for tea! Lydia got up on stage and sang in front of a crowd of two (woo woo) and we came home.
The 22nd was my brother’s birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY) and I did a Thai cooking course! It was really good. I learnt to make Thai red curry with tofu, fish and ginger soup and shrimps stuffed with minced pork. Met some really nice Australian girls as well and they invited us out that evening. We met them at Arkbar which is this really cool bar on the beach that serves tasty food and play really good music. They have these little lounger things on the beach, a bit Turkish I suppose, with a little table in the middle. We had a really good night and met some
lovely people. There was also a little dog there with a mane like a lion, aaahhhh!!!
The 23rd did nothing, if I remember rightly was thoroughly bored, but the weather was pants and overcast so there isn’t really anything to do when its like that!! On Christmas Eve me and Hannah went diving to Koh Tao. The sun was shining and it was a really good day. The diving was good but a bit murky. We saw quite a few fishes though and had a tasty lunch. And the sun shone as well which was exciting!! We went out that night to a few bars and then to an outdoor dance thing but then it started to rain!! Which was a shame as it looked like it might be quite good! The people were nice there as well. Apart from the obligatory cockneys who were just weird!!
That night we got our first, or rather, my first motorbike taxi home. Was very exciting, apart from the massive puddle we had to go through. We woke up on Christmas morning to…… wait for it, yes you guessed it rain!!! Lots of it. The whole street outside our apartment was
flooded up to the pavement. The little mopeds were submerged! But it stopped for a bit so we braved it and then it rained again. So I cried and had a cocktail!!! Anyway, there was worse to come as we didn’t have the star movie channel as we thought and Beyonce didn’t reveal any secrets to Oprah as advertised so all round we were gutted!! As I’m sure you can imagine. By the way, for all those over 35, Beyonce is a singer in an American girl group!!!
Boxing day was much better. The sun was shining and so we hired a little jeap and went exploring around the island. We saw, in this order;
The prick sign (pictures to follow)
A good look out point
The grandmother and grandfather rocks (this is rocks that have naturally formed into female and male bits. We approached the rocks via the beach and had to part abseil down a rock to reach it. It was quite hard and a little scary. When we reached the rocks we found that you could reach them by the road that was easier and much quicker! Oh well, you live and learn!!)
Waterfall number 1,
which is the smaller of the two and very beautiful. We also saw what I think was a salamander as well amongst the rocks, or some other lizard thing
The butterfly gardens, where there were no butterflies but lots of caterpillars and an amazing view, I liked it!
Nathon, the old fishing village
The Golden Buddha, which is a massive gold Buddha, very beautiful and the best till last…
TESCO. Yes, Tesco. Nuff said.
Anyway, that night we got an early one as the 27th we were diving again. This time from a speed boat instead of the ferry which we dived from the last time. This time we dived from Sailor Rock where the just the pinnacle sticks out of the water. The current was really strong and the visibility not very good but it was still a really good dive. We saw loads of fish, including several finding Nemo fish, defending there anemone’s and lots of beautiful yellow fish and angel fish. I dived my deepest as well, 25 meters, I was very proud and we also swam up through the middle of the rock which was really exciting!
That night we went out with my
instructor Alex, to a blues club and then to a bar called Reggae Bar which was really fun. We got to Reggae Bar with all three of us on Alex’s moped, oops! At one point it wouldn’t go up the hill and Alex had to push with his feet!!! The next day we got the flight to Phuket and I shall end the story there!!!
