Mar 10. And then it got better. More accurately sublime. Humidity gone. Clear hot sun cool air. Water warm. Spruiking excellent. Went over to Vincentia for a few hours. Buscer with guitar excellent. Lunch at park barby. Swam. Jumping off the jetty. Kids. Dolphin watchers. Bucolic benign. Except one crazy I managed to dodge. Later in the 'Husky', rugby, its NSW. I saw our frigate manouevering in the distance. Bloke said 'I can't eat any more. Lets walk it off.' Fish chips, salad, I seagulled. Band tuned up. Max volume soon. I left to plow on in 'Industrial Revolution in Europe' (my book). All good.
Mar 11. Same same. Spruiking slow. Another you beaut day. Early market. Swam the inlet and walked the shore. Softly susserating waves. Later jazz at Promenade Cafe. xlnt. Sea eagle pased over.
Mar 12. Nowra spruik and although the reception was good the donations much reduced compared to wealthy Huskison.
Mar 13. Same, same. Drove to Culburra Beach. Very nice.
Mar 14. Early morning fog in low areas. Treetops like islands in a white sea. Tounge of fog coming down between hills looked like an Australian glacier. Wet cobwebs were white wheels floating between trees. Fences draped in gauze. Kiama ugly headland. Bitumin, grass and Norfolk pines! The raucous cries of crows. Is there anyone out there who thinks some native nectar bearing shrubs rounded by the wind MIGHT BE NICE. A crimson rosella or two, they live as couples in pairs. Chat with John (Croatian Aussie). Swim in vast sea pool. All Good.
Mar 15. What can I say Wollongong. Long walk to beach and headland. Bald hill and lighthouse. Again I envisioned a lovely wooded head. It could be. Long chat two Germans and Austrian. They gave me cheese, bread and coffee for sticker. She was lovely and listened long time to my conceptualisation of a planet that worked without war and oppression. Our only way forward. Back through town offered beer for sticker, it was lunchtime. Two blokes and a sheila. Three of the big names in town. The stories they told and I'm eating cheese, crackers and salami! Then up through the mall. Great entertainment. Sticker demand. Stopped at other end by mall guard, told no!, cannot do?! Then later north Wollongong beach behind bluff ridge blocking breeze. Couple came, he fell in love instantly with flag, she took twelve seconds. Fairdinkum.
Mar 16. Up early toward Sydney. Stopped Botany Bay to let rush hour pass. Very hot. Got copy of Sydney 'City Hub' article. Checking email, money sent for flag from couple in Broulee. They'd seen article in 'Independent' which covers Eurobodalla. That explains what happened to the article I thought would come out in the Batemans 'Bay Post'. They used it in sister publication. Very good.
