My plane leaves in 12 hours and I'm still adding to my bag. So far everything fits and I'm eight kilos under the weight limit. No one thinks I can last eight months with such a limited supply of clothes but I plan on doing a lot of shopping. My next message will be from Santiago!... read more


Greetings all from Sunny (yet freezing) Cooma - the eastern gateway to the snowy mountains. It's a beautiful day outside but the temperature is icy. The cold air stings your face as soon as you step outside but at least it's clean and fresh. Well, last time I touched base I was marking calves and drinking beer in Bundy. The last few days there were relatively uneventful. I did a bit more work on the farm, went to the cattle market a couple of times, went into town once or twice, ate plenty of magnificent Marian Wrigg home cooked food and shovelled gravel for Trevor's path. For those thinking of shovelling gravel in the near future - DON'T. I should make it clear that I volunteered for the job, wanting to do a few days hard ... read more

I got up at 6.20 a proper breakfast was waiting for us at 7.00am. Eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, toast, cereal the lot! A little bit stuffed on the bus at 8.00 and set off to Kosciuszko National Park. We did a lot of walking, at Rainbow Lake then at Snow Gum boardwalk, and this is where we saw loads of snow. Snow! In Australia!! It was really windy too, I had to wear an extra jacket :o( and saw Australias largest mountain, Koscuiszko, apparently! It was pretty small! We were driving for quite a long time of mountains with steep drops, some people on the bus didn't like that! The next point we stopped off at was a rock that split New South Wales and Victoria.
