So in my last blog I told you that we were all headed to Wyoming to fish. There were nine of us in the group and we went to Glendo, Wyoming to catch Walleye. I, of course was just a spectator as those of you who know me know that I don't do smelly, dirty, fishy things so I just stayed in camp while everyone else went out on the boat each day to see what they could catch. You will see by the pictures that they all did quite well in the fish department but as for Glendo it wasn't very nice to Don & I. We first experienced trouble with our satellite and couldn't seem to get reception there. It was extremely frustrating as everyone else was not having a problem but I told ... read more

Friday, 27 June, 2014 We left the campground this morning and drove to the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center just outside the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. I went inside to use their internet to post yesterday's blog. Sean followed a ranger to the picnic area to hear his program on bears. Kerry went to see what the ranger with the telescope was watching. When I finished inside, Kerry told me I had to look through the telescope at sun spots. I had never seen sun spots, so once the clouds moved out of the way, I finally did. Cool. By then the bear program was over and we headed east. We left Estes Park on Highway 34 which ran along the Big Thompson River to Loveland. This is part of the area that flooded badly ... read more

We contemplated staying another night in the Black Hills, but Nate really wanted to get to Yellowstone, and we have to be back home on the 22nd, so we loaded everything up in the morning (drying things up as best we could after last nights storm) and headed south toward the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs SD. We saw quite a bit of wildlife on the way including some prong horn who looked pretty sickly, more prarie dogs and a small heard of bison. We all thought the Mammoth site was cool and liked it but our tour guides nasal tone was a bit annoying. At the deepest point of the dig so far they are down 22ft and figure the sink hole is at least 45 feet deep so there is a long way to ... read more

Obfuscator writes: We woke up and immediately got moving for Flaming Gorge National Recreational Area. We didn't really stay long though, because it was snowing and visibility was terrible. While we could have waited around to see if the weather would clear, we didn't have the time for that, and so we left, taking a minor vow to try to see the southern part of the park when we go through Utah later. We drove east to Rawlins, where we found the Wyoming Frontier Historic Prison. During the weekdays, there's tours of the historic building, but of course, we got there on a Sunday. We were able to take a walk around the perimeter of the prison though, and to see the Prison Cemetery, and due to a hole in one of the fences, gained access ... read more

Untitled Greetings everyone! We have made it....well, not all the way to Keystone, but to Douglas, Wyoming which is our first stop on this 6 day trip-o-fun. It has been a long day filled with lots of waiting in lines, sitting, and making many last minute turns on the correct street. It started off this morning when we all pleasantly awoke at 4am...wayyyy before any of the birds were chirping. Our game plan last night was to get on the road at 4:30, but in reality, we all knew that the goal was very unrealistic. There was a brief moment in time when everything was going according to plan upon our departure from 107 Windy Willow Way; however, Pamela decided to take the trash out the front door and had the garbage bag ever so gracefully ... read more

Currently in Douglas, Wyoming- an hour or so out of Casper- recovering from my two and a half weeks vacation. Left Montana on Saturday and decided to take the scenic route down through Yellowstone. Relying fully on our Walmart Atlas (found in our new truck, which we have named “The Proud Mary”- the truck not the atlas) as opposed to Mapquest, we mapped our route like people did in the old days. Unsure of how much time it would actually take and being on a deadline- two days to get to Douglas, we unfortunately had to hurry through Yellowstone and thus were only able to enjoy that which we could see from our truck and the road. We did stop a few times for pictures. As you can see. (I have higher quality copies of these ... read more
