Uncle Joe’s Shakedown Cruise

This is a report of our shakedown cruise on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula. We left port Monday morning May 12, 20009 about 11 a.m.; hitched up and headed west for the Pacific Ocean. We found the day loaded with drizzle. The Beast has a gps navigation system that provides vocal turn-by-turn narration to a destination. We arrived at the Dunes RV Resort in Copalis, WA, notwithstanding the turn-by-turn narration. “At the next intersection make a legal U-turn.” Right away, we knew “the Voice” was lost. Published: September 20th 2008North America » United States » Washington » Ocean ShoresMy parking space in Ocean Shores RV Resort is just great, there are dense spruce forests all over this area, so the sites are cut into the forest; I can’t even see my neighbors although they are only about 40’ away. I spent Friday catching up with some of the things I had neglected over the past three weeks—including my blog! On Saturday I ventured out. It’s a half mile walk to the beach from where I am parked but the town is about 2½ miles and I needed a couple of grocery items so I drove in via the Ocean Shores State Park beach. Published: August 4th 2008North America » United States » Washington » Ocean ShoresSupporting Cast: Sue: My kidnapper and Cheuffer Nemo: Her 3-year-old daughter Mike: My partner in all things We grabbed a change of clothes, piled into Sue's car and were off to Ocean Shores. The drive there was Nemo The Musical, as the 3-year-old was making up songs: "Mike no swiping Mikes a swiper, Mike no swiping! Bollocks" Mike was in the back with her, there was much squealing as they played "rib countings." We all did a few cover songs; Sue used her all-powerful Mommy Voice on Mike a couple times for breaking into shanties a bit too risque for young minds with good memorization skills. Nemo, as with all children, was mortified by her parent singing. I think its just on principle, Sue has a lovely voice and has garnered much applause at karaoke. We ... read more
