I can't believe the month of June is already over! It's been quite a whirlwind. My last day of work was June 9th and we left on June 10th for a ten day vacation in California with my family. My brother, Neal, graduated with his PhD in Philosophy from University of California Riverside, so it was a nice excuse for the whole fam to spend some quality time together. Martin and I flew to Long Beach that Wednesday, followed by my parents (returning from a month long trip to Europe) and then Debi & the kids Thursday night and finally Ben [View Full Entry]

What a shock and a treat to be home, even for a short time. We arrived home to weather people were calling "Junuary" and had our plates full with plans for the wedding and our second leg of the trip. Not to mention a blessing party that seemed as big as a wedding in its own right. It was fantastic to see our friends and family after being gone for six months. Heading to Anacortes we unpacked for a bit and began to work diligently finalizing plans for our big day in San Pancho, Mexico... too many plans too little time. [View Full Entry]

I wrote on Robyn and my children's book in the morning and the Drew and I began our epic bike ride we had been wanting to do since before I got up here. We'd been planning it for months! We started out in the U-District and rode up to the Red Hook Brewery in Bellevue. On the way there I had an epic crash and scraped up my arm something fierce. I was feeling pretty bad until a guy road up and asked if I was okay. I said that I thought I was just scraped up. He replied, "Oh, good. [View Full Entry]

Well, only 3 weeks left until our move to TN. We plan on driving down through Utah, to Bryce Canyon National Park. Then over to Las Vegas, then a quick trip to the Grand Canyon before making a steady way back East. We'll be stopping by Arkansas for a couple of days, as Tony has never met my grandmother who lives there. More to come soon! [View Full Entry]

Well, I have my backpack packed and ready go to on my trip tomorrow! I'm quite excited though sad to say goodbye to my family (I'm always crying when I say goodbye to them, whether I want to or not, haha). I have a few more maintenance things and paperwork to deal with, but I think I'm pretty much ready to go. I thought my flight was at 1pm tomorrow, but I looked at my eticket last night and it's actually flying out at 7:45 am. And I'm not flying through Chigaco O'Hare, I'm flying through Washington DC. Great Myia, you're [View Full Entry]

Hi Everyone!! Sharon and I set up this blog so we can communicate with everyone "real time" - we wanted a way to record our experiences before we move on to the next ones (or in my case before I forget). And it also let’s us hear from each of you while we’re traveling - so please let us know how things are at home. Snapshot: Rob and Sharon, Kevin, I and Tina are traveling to Cambodia to work with the Tabitha Organization (http://www.tabithafoundationaustralia.com) at a small housing village in Kampot, South Cambodia. The Tabitha group is helping us by [View Full Entry]

I warmly welcome to my travel journal! I plan on writing here frequently and documenting all the crazy, life-changing, memorable, and not-so-memorable experiences I will have over the next four months in The Netherlands. A warning in advance: although I am a Technical communication major and have survived 10 grueling weeks of hardcore grammar and spelling class as well as style and general English classes, my grammar, capitalization, and such will probably not be university-level...and maybe not high school level. Please, no emailing my professors with my speling mistakess. I'll post pictures and such when I can. Feel free to contact [View Full Entry]

I have really enjoyed Julia's blog as she travelled through Europe these past several months. So because I love to copy her every move, I have decided that I will blog as well (and post it on facebook for easy access, just like her). So many travellers I have spoken with suggest writing a journal to record memories, experiences, etc. This is one of my biggest weaknesses. I am terrible at remembering and reliving my own amazing life experiences. I had made a commitment to do this with my most recent job traveling as a consultant and failed miserably. Hopefully, the [View Full Entry]
