I can't believe the month of June is already over! It's been quite a whirlwind. My last day of work was June 9th and we left on June 10th for a ten day vacation in California with my family. What a shock and a treat to be home, even for a short time. We arrived home to weather people were calling "Junuary" and had our plates full with plans for the wedding and our second leg of the trip. Not to mention a blessing party that seemed as big as a wedding in its own right. It was fantastic to see our friends and family after being gone for six months. I wrote on Robyn and my children's book in the morning and the Drew and I began our epic bike ride we had been wanting to do since before I got up here. We'd been planning it for months! We started out in the U-District and rode up to the Red Hook Brewery in Bellevue. On the way there I had an epic crash and scraped up my arm something fierce. Well, only 3 weeks left until our move to TN. We plan on driving down through Utah, to Bryce Canyon National Park. Then over to Las Vegas, then a quick trip to the Grand Canyon before making a steady way back East. Well, I have my backpack packed and ready go to on my trip tomorrow! I'm quite excited though sad to say goodbye to my family (I'm always crying when I say goodbye to them, whether I want to or not, haha). I have a few more maintenance things and paperwork to deal with, but I think I'm pretty much ready to go. I plan on writing here frequently and documenting all the crazy, life-changing, memorable, and not-so-memorable experiences I will have over the next four months in The Netherlands. Well we are set to leave town.....we have rented our place out to our friend Kim and a new friend Cara, quit our jobs and packed up our personal belongings. We have more to buy and pack over the next month as we travel to our destinastions in the US and Canada. We plan on driving to Grand Junction, Colorado and staying for a few weeks. I have really enjoyed Julia's blog as she travelled through Europe these past several months. So because I love to copy her every move, I have decided that I will blog as well (and post it on facebook for easy access, just like her). So many travellers I have spoken with suggest writing a journal to record memories, experiences, etc. This is one of my biggest weaknesses.
