Here we are at Fort Rock. Amazing how the lack of Native America information at this site is. They used to live in the caves here. And there were massive battles here. Seems all the attention is given to Reub the Cowboy.

This area was once before an island. The desert area here was covered in water, and the native's would canoe to and from this island. There are caves here, where they used to live. Sandals were found in a cave, and are the oldest ever to be discovered dating back around 9000-13000 years ago.

Here's Reub the Cowboy. He gets a plaque there at Fort Rock, again, no mentions of the Native's who once called this area home.

Fort Rock from a distance. For all the ODOT signs saying your tax dollars at work, you would think they would update some of their signs, as a lot are missing on the way to these obscure locals in southeast oregon. We thought this was going to be another place we just weren't going to find. But we found it. Now off to the next place.

The town of Sisters Oregon is absolutely charming. One of the best little tourist towns of Oregon we've experienced so far. Super well kept uniformed old west buildings, very clean, and lots of activity. I enjoyed our 20 mph stroll thru the town after flling up the tank there.
