Metal cowboys, that's what we are, it's what we felt like anyway(as you see in the picture, my saddle bags off the bike). Freedom on our bikes, it's an all familiar feeling. Crossing borders, international ones even, were no obstacles. Countless people, from all ages and ethnic backgrounds met. Unfamiliar terrain discovered and conquered(so our next trip would definitely be much easier). To me, this vacation is also an accomplishment, a longtime dream, finally realized. We are done with this tour! Yay us! Because of this Friday deadline, we were not able to make it all the way to Portland on our bikes. Instead, we traveled out of downtown Seattle to just north of Tacoma and waited for our buddy Matt to pick us up with his car, nice guy isn't he? He brought us ... read more

I woke up yesterday morning to an incredibly 'spotty' looking face. As you can imagine this pissed me off greatly, but I got kinda confused, because I was like.. WHY?! Ok, Ive been eating shit and getting alot of sun but I looked like a chicken pox victim. So after a day of moaning and whining, I washed my face later on and my face was sore. I looked closer, and they are fucking bites. BITES. MOSQUITO BITES! ON MY FACE! only 2.... or 3? BUT WHATT Excuse the foul language but its the only language I can use to express how much I hate Mosquitos. Im not writing anything else because all the world needs to know is how sad I am that mosquitos love my bloooood. I went skating today and I rolled up ... read more

Portland, Oregon is a haven for outdoor lovers like me. Blessed with Endless Scenery all within an hour or two's drive of Portland this short trip last week was a whole lot of fun. I took a flight out of Des Moines, Ia at 6.15 PM and landed in Portland, Or sometime close to 11 PM..I had a layover at Denver, Co where i had enough time to recharge my laptop and I-Pod. I was watching a movie on my laptop on the flight from Denever to Portland, when the Pilot called out on the PA and told us to look out for Mt Hood on the left and Mt Adams and Mt Rainier on the right. Now this being my first trip to the NorthWest, I hardly expected snow on the mountains. Since i ... read more

Sarah and I will be leaving for Paris on Tuesday. We are both a little stressed but also really excited. i haven't been sleeping that well so i've been like a zombie at work. we have to go to Seattle tomorrow (sunday) night so that we can be at the regional passport agency at 8:00 AM to get my passport. I applied for it in February and was told it would only take 6-7 weeks to get it, but alas, after 10 weeks it has still not arrived, so off to Seattle it is. Talk about cutting it close! The plane leaves around eleven on Tuesday. I will be taking Nyquil and trying to sleep through a good portion of the plane ride in order to combat jet-lag as well as my fear of flying. Everything ... read more

With Vancouver being so close to the U.S. border, we thought it would be a good idea to head south for a long weekend. We weren't blessed with the greatest weather, but still had plenty of fun on our road trip which stopped through the cities of Portland and Seattle. We hope you enjoy these photos.... read more

Pepto Bismal, Charcoal, Grapefruit seed extract, Talcum Powder, Wormwood, Garlic, Probiotics, vitamins, greenfood, Malaria Pills, 34% Deet mosquito repellent, aloe vera gel, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, first aid kit, iodine pills, emergen-C, pencils for the village kids and one sherpa. Did we forget anything? Our flight leaves in three hours. Tokyo then Bangkok then who knows where. A little over four weeks in possibly four countries—Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia. We didn't make one reservation. In fact, we didn't order our guidebooks until last week. But we're ready. We need this trip...to rejuvenate, invigorate and rediscover our creativity and passion. It's not just a vacation; it's an adventure into what could possibly be our very own Heart of Darkness. ... read more
