Well. Time grows short. im still putting the final touches on the rv. just preplaced the starter, and will be adding a new fuel pump next. i still need to sort the stove out, and buy 4 new tires, but we are almost ready. Cara has been loading it up with the various items she has procured through legitimate and less than legitamate means. i think we will be ready, but one can never be sure until your out on the road . The planned meeting of jodan and cara was foiled by a blizzard that was dropped close to 3 feet of snow on my house. A new plan is in the works, but the details remain mysterious to me at least. i believe jodan is putting in his 2 weeks soon. cara resigns the ... read more

Well all is still on track. The Wally Wagon is coming together nicely. As music for the open road is a imperitive, i rewired the entire sound system in the rv. new speakers, wires, and tuner. And as a great deal of the driving will be in the vast untouched reaches of the south, i installed a satalite radio so i wont have to choose between the country station that sucks and a country station that blows. By the time we hit the road, there wont be an inch of the rv i havent taken apart and learnded how it works. So, barring a complete engine failure, i should be able to fix any problems that arise. Soon the painting party will begin. And i am gonna mess that thing up royally with the most strange ... read more

Well the decision has been made. my friends and i were toying with the idea of going cross country in a rv(caravan). they should have known better than to mention something like that to me and not expect to run out and buy an rv. I got me a 27' class c motorhome. and boy is she a beauty! i just took it through inspection today and actually passed. its amazing what you can get for 900 bucks! i mean its a 30 year old rv, but come on, it runs like new-ish. the tenitive departure date is early feb. 2010, just in time to make mardi gras in New Orleans. Get your Rack Out! After that the itinerary is kind of open. down olde mexico way is probably next. then a haphazard wander through the ... read more

Oh hello. This update is going to suck because I'm tired and pissed off, but I decided I needed to finish off the trip. Went from Alabama where I left my pillow to Atlanta, Georgia. Saw some cool things like the city and Stone Mountain, which is the south's version of Mount Rushmore. I can't decide if having a monument to Lee, Davis, and Jackson is cool or kind of strange. I won't go any further. Stayed with the Newby family in Georgia and they were awesome. I really enjoyed having the home cooked meal, and they were extremely nice. Left Georgia early in the morning, stopped in SC to see Uncle Jared and get adjusted, continued on to Durham, NC where we had pizza with Manny. Made it to the DC area around 8:30 and ... read more

Today was the last day of our journey around the country. We left Arlington at 7:45 am in order to account for traffic through DC and Baltimore. Strangely enough, however, we encountered no traffic. Very few cars were in downtown, on Memorial Bridge, on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, in the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, or even the New Jersey Turnpike. It was an extremely weird situation. We arrived back in New Jersey just after noon. Amazing timing. So now for my final thoughts: (1) I don't know what is holding this country together. Idaho and Wyoming are so different than Virginia and North Carolina. Utah operates in a different sphere than the Republic of Texas (which believes that it is a separate country). I understand that the United States is a country that gives considerable amounts of states ... read more

So tomorrow morning Megan and I leave for 19 days as we drive around the United States. I want to thank first and foremost Megan for (1) suggesting this trip; (2) being my partner in crime; and (3) planning with me this amazing route. We appreciate your company and look forward to spending a night with you all. As for our journey, it will take us through 29 states and the District of Columbia. Our path: (Day) Date - Start to End - By way of... (1) May 11 - Lake Hopatcong, NJ to Chicago, IL (2) May 12 - Chicago, IL to Cedar Falls, IA (3) May 13 - Cedar ... read more
