Got up at 6:30am. Shanthi left for work at 6:45am. She had made idly for breakfast which we had at 8.GS made some fresh orange juice for us. 9 to 10 R and Viswam played Nathan56 with four other players from India/USA. Shanthi was back by 10:30 and we all went to Costco and --to pick up some groceries. Lunch at 12:45..kurma, rasam, keerai, Prawns and brinjal-drumstick fry. At around 2:45 left on a long drive to the Naval Academy. Met Kisshan and looked around a bit. On the way stopped at a mall and R had a proper Sub sandwich there. We had frozen yoghurt. Rashmi was back home shortly after us. After dinner R and Kisshan played TT. Then THIS IS IT movie in the home theater. We had watched the first 20 mins ... read more

I'm quite sure I've successfully downloaded all the missing photos from the trip to Orosi Valley & the recent trip to La Paz. This includes three videos from the Orosi Trip. Still haven't figured out how to download the longer audio/video of the neighbors music from several weeks ago. Well I certainly hope everyone has enjoyed at least certain aspects of my travel blog...I tried to include a variety of things to appeal to many. It's good to be back in the states in some ways, the most important is family! But I haven't felt bad at all about missing out on cold weather. Today in Maryland is cold, wet and very dreary. After a fair amount of turbulence during the flight from San Salvador to Washington DC it was nice to be back on terra firma. Going through customs was longer and more involved than I had experienced before. It took at least 1.5 hours. So by the time I met up with Judy there at the airport I was exhausted. We finally arrived at her house around 11pm and had something to eat then went to bed. Today has been a day of checking emails and regrouping....whatever that means. Today did not begin like any ordinary day...The first email I read this morning was from my future daughter-in-law Nina saying that our oldest son Jeff was appointed Mayor of Bend at the city council meeting last night! Of course this was very exciting news especially since we had no idea this was even a possibility. It's been obvious for some time that he would likely increase his involvement in politics so it wasn't totally out of the blue. He's served on the Bend City Council for about 2 years. My sister Judy and I had a wonderful time with mom today. Went out to lunch at Macaroni Grill. They even had a decent gluten-free menu. The salmon was delicious. I couldn't believe how much bread and pizza mom ate. No wonder she wasn't feeling real ... read more

It's true that I'm getting closer to being in Costa Rica. Today I flew to Maryland via Salt Lake City from Redmond OR. There's been a slight glitch, not with my Costa Rica Plans but with my plans on staying with my sister and her family in Mt Airy Maryland until leaving for Costa Rica. My sister Judy, her husband Tom and their youngest son Ryan all came down with a stomach virus on Monday, so after researching how highly contagious these viruses are and how long they can remain contagious I decided not to push my luck and rather stay in a motel in Frederick rather than in their house. Ah! I'm here at the new house! We moved in the first weekend in May and yesterday we got internet! Its been relaxing and exciting at the same time, though this is the first week since Spring Break (even though I didn't get a week) that I have been off! I start my new job next week, though I'm still in the process of applying for jobs and wondering what is going to happen with school! I haven't gotten anything else in the mail from Mount St. Mary's, but I am going home to get some more stuff that I left back at the house in Baltimore so maybe they sent something to my mother's place.
