Debbie, Bobby and their neighbours, Melinda and Lauren, rented a cabin in Fontainebleau State Park for the New Year’s weekend. Melinda and Lauren have two children, Thomas is 12 and Grace is 8. Thomas was away hunting with his uncle for the weekend. We had a wonderful weekend. Bobby barbecued steaks on New Year’s Eve and Lauren fried fish on New Year’s Day. Needless to say the food was delicious and I even got a “to go" plate!! Jacob stayed in the motor home with me both nights and Ben stayed for one night. I left Albuquerque with Texas on my mind. I stopped over in Weatherford to visit with Janet and Garth Tayler but unfortunately, Garth had to go out of town so I missed him but had a pleasant visit and supper with Janet. On to Austin. Beverley and Casey live in Austin, Texas so I made reservations in a very nice park there for five days. I hadn’t seen Bev since I was in California in April so we had a bit of catching up to do; they had not met Ike yet. We had a really nice visit; Casey did some great BBQ for us. Happy Mardi Gras from Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, LA! We started out Friday after picking our grandson up from school and were on the interstate by 3:10, which is well ahead of the normal east bound traffic out of Baton Rouge on a Friday afternoon. We arrived at the Fontainebleau gates just before 5:00 and got our RV set up and hooked up well before dark. Our campsite was not my first choice but unfortunately, by the time we realized we could take a 4 day weekend, this was the only spot left to reserve. So we took it.
