Webster Flea Market
they have EVERYTHING Monday January 9, 2012
Florilow Oaks, Bushnell, FL
Only watched one DVD last night. Fur. A very disturbing film for me, one that will, sadly, stick in my brain for a while and which I would like to forget. I watch movies to be entertained. I don’t like to be disturbed by them. I should have stopped watching when it got disturbing.
Up out and early this morning to the Webster Flea Market, about 7 miles away. We left Winston and Charlie in my rig, and planned on being gone only 3 hours total.
Judy got us easily to the parking lot we had scoped out yesterday. It’s where the overnight RVers park, and there was no one collecting money, so we went in and selected a nice spot and off we went.
This is one of those flea markets, you name it, they have it. (Picture herein) First we bought strawberries, which are in season now. $3/quart or $5 for 2. We shared.
On to the next booth and Judy wanted blueberries. I am not a big fan, so I walked on. Next thing I realize, Judy is in a panic. Somewhere between the 2 booths her wallet went missing; she was pick pocketed. The good news is it was only cash, albeit, $100, but her license and credit cards were safe in her rig. She had her wallet in one of those nylon fold up bags that zips into a fake leather pouch which she had expanded to carry the strawberries. Her phone and keys were also in it. So, needless to say, poor Judy was very out of sorts. She left me to head back to the RV to make sure it was ok, and to calm her nerves down.
I shopped for another 45 minutes ago, and my purchases included a souvenir or stocking stuffer for Kristine, 4 potted herb plants at $1 each, and a $6 pot to plant them in. The pot is cute. It’s terra cotta colored plastic with four sections in it, one for each herb. The guy was selling them in 3 packs with a chain for hanging and a drip pan. They have some special patented channel irrigation thingy when set up in groups of 3 that hang and stack and really look nice. I only wanted one. For $6 he threw in a free hanger, said many people were requesting only one to grow herbs in, just like me. One of the things I forgot to pack was a good assortment of dried/jarred herbs, so now I will have fresh parsley, rosemary, thyme and basil.
On the way back to Florilow Oaks Judy’s ‘check engine’ light came on. Not the best time for that to happen as she had really not calmed down, but she managed to make an appointment to have it checked tomorrow, probably nothing more than it needs a tune up and pollution controls checked. Things happen in 3s. Her third bad thing was someone complained about her dog. Not a good day for Judy.
Winston and Charlie were fine in my rig, but I heard from more than one person that Winston barked the entire time we were gone. I need doggie Phenobarbital. He sure did sleep all afternoon, so I know he is really pooped.
I asked my campsite neighbor if I could pay her a few $$ and use some of the bag of topsoil she had in her backyard, and she offered me whatever I needed and gave me a shovel, so my herb pot looks beautiful. Picture tomorrow, it’s too dark now to take.
Late afternoon brought visitors, Ginnie and Malcolm. Ginnie is a friend from my NJ camping club, and she has done boarding for Winston. She and Malcolm have been on the road in their rigs for about 2 weeks now. Ginnie was the one who told me about the RV show, and along with Judi C, we 5 will be heading out early Wednesday morning for the Tampa Fair Grounds. Malcolm said the Hard Rock casino and Tampa fairgrounds are attached via parking lots. I am giddy with excitement, shining up my loyalty card right now.
Tonight’s DVD, again courtesy of the Florilow library, is Trial by Jury. A mediocre courtroom drama that would be better if it had Ashely Judd as female lead instead of Joanne Whalley Kilmer. I don’t know her at all, and she’s pretty meek, an Ashley Judd wannabee. The bad guy is Armand Assante, good for the role, but I like to see him play a good guy every now and then.
