Baltimore Inner HarborBaltimore Inner HarborBaltimore Inner Harbor

A fun stop if you're in the area and have time.
Ann here -- After traveling through six states (Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia) we made it safely to DC. Travelling on the east coast is a bit bizarre... one can travel through numerous states in the matter of a couple hours... there are tons of tolls, bridges, and tunnels... our favorite part is that there aren't any billboards lining the parkways (can't call them freeways, as they aren't free 😊 ).... the other part we really liked are the service areas... they're so easy to get on and off of to get gas, food, restroom.

We sure miss our tour guide Phil! He has more energy and enthusiasm than most. We rented a car bright and early this morning and headed for Baltimore. I wanted the family to see the Inner Harbor. I remember it well from a trip I made with Mary's family when I was 16 (a few years ago 😊 ). It's changed quite a bit since then, but still a great stop. If one had more time, there's a ton of sites to see. We walked around the harbor to Pier 5 and had lunch at a great seafood place (McCormack & Schmick). I had never had soft blue crab before.

From Baltimore we travelled to our hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The hotel is far below the accomodations we have in Stamford, but it's clean and the beds are comfortable.

At 7pm, we decided to take the Metro into DC. It's weird, but we all agreed that we liked the subway in NYC better. The Metro in DC is cleaner, but it's not as smooth a process as the NYC MetroCard is. Our hotel is about 4 blocks from the Metro station in Rosslyn, VA, right over the Potomac from DC. We walked around the Foggy Bottom / White House area and had dinner. Back at the hotel now and excited at the prospect of being in bed before midnight! More later.... xoxoxo, Ann

Reminiscence
You are sure covering the territory. Please have David or Katherine take some pictures Ann in them. Makes me tear up when I remember that Steven L., Alan, Ann, Mark had all made a trip back there (individually, on THEIR own at young ages) thanks to the cooperation of Phil and Mary. In the late '70's. Oh, my!! Keep those blogs coming!! --much love

I hope you find the Pedevillano family all well. I am sure they will be delighted to see you all. Please give them all my best regards. Hard to believe it's been 5 years since I have seen John and Gloria.

Great Pics
Hi, meant to warn you about the tolls out of NY, we thought we would run out of cash :), but it's neat to go thru so many states in a short time. I love that about back east. I am sure you will run out of time in D.C. but the kids will love it. That is a whole other trip for us. We miss you and are jealous you are having so much fun. Enjoy! Are you writing about the places and things that you have seen other than here? That is nice to look back on and refer to when your mind goes blank...........which mine does quite often. Ha Ha

Hi Carol! We're putting alot of details in the blogs so we don't have to keep a separate journal. We'll have 1000+ photos by the time our trip is over. Hope you're all doing well! xoxoxo, Ann
