This is one of our early family vacations that really stands out in my mind. I had never really been around mountains and snow before this vacation. It wes a big change coming from Texas during summer vacation (100+ deg weather) to Breckenridge, Colorado at an altitude of 9,603 ft above sea level and 30-40 deg weather. There was even snow everywhere, though now I realize it was not much compared to during winter. But we had a good time driving up there, stayed in a relatives condominium for a week, explored the town and neighboring Frisco.
