We had a wonderful night sleep and a very welcome shower, walked the dog and Dee had a special treat. The restroom had a utility sink with hot and cold water and she got to do the dishes with some elbow room. We were packed up and off by 9:20. A few things started to fall, mainly the hats, so Dee ended up with both hats on her head. Picture…We drove on 80 west for a few miles then headed south on Rt 789, just a 2 lane road that was fairly straight. It was antelope heaven. I never saw so many and after a while they were just plain scary, would they jump in the road or not. Going 60 mph it would make a terrible mess! The landscape changed but not as suddenly as ... read more

September 11 Kremmling-Steamboat Springs to Rabbit Ears Pass dispersed Campground Morning - Today I am backtracking a little and going Northwest on Hwy 40 to Muddy Pass (8,772 ft) and then Northeast on Hwy 14 to Walden and then East on 14 through the Rosevelt National Forest towards Ft Collins. Don’t know if I will make it to Ft Collins. I will probably stop somewhere along the way. That’s the Plan anyway. It’s a beautiful day here in Kremmling and 45degrees at 9AM. Guess I had better load up and get moving. Checkout time here is 10AM. Midday - Stopped at Rabbit Ears Pass dispersed campground to think things over. If I go into Steamboat again this will be my free campground tonight (9479 ft.). After looking Steamboat over again I will come back here to ... read more

Another scorcher in Las Vegas with the official temperature 109 and 10% humidity. The thermometer on the outside of my rig reads 115 so the pool is most inviting. My shower this morning was interesting. With the outside hose I didn't have to use any hot water as the “cold” water wasn't. Thank goodness for 50 amp service feeding both air conditioners. Today I made up at the Las Vegas Rotary Club and heard Lawyer Mark Hutchinson talk about the 26 state lawsuit against Obamacare (led by Florida) and its probable appearance before the Supreme Court this fall. Sitting at the same table was a local fellow Rotarian born a couple of miles from me in Columbus, Ohio. Small world! Mary is off testing the machines while I plan an auto trip to the various local ... read more

Its time to tie up all loose ends and pack my bags. I am heading out into the beautiful world again. My job goes into hiatus for 2 months as I set out to explore a new frontier. It is always sad to leave behind such a wonderful place as Steamboat Springs, but it will be waiting for me upon my return....hopefully. Steamboat has a Colorado state record for its snowpak and everyone is worried about potential flooding. Luckily my apartment is on the second floor! My new adventure is going to take me to the otherside of the planet. Where north is south and south is north, or something like that. My first stop, besides long layovers in Denver and LAX, is Melbourne, Australia. I finally get to meet the lovely Natalie's parents and see ... read more

Deep in the mountains I sit inside a hut made of stone and mortar, held up by a lodge-pole pine roof with whole trees beams. It's quiet except for the constant sound of the little waterfall behind me flowing through an opening into the slope the structure is built into. The water flows quickly into a crevice behind my rock chair and finally into a vented tunnel under my feet. Even in the early morning darkness, I can see the steam drifting upwards and out into the forest above the empty hot springs below me. I dip another towel into the waterfall, and cover myself once more against the cold air, sitting silently. I choke a scream as the 130 degree or so water from the towel cascades down chest and legs. The heat passes, ... read more

So here I am in my moms van on my way to steamboat springs. The feel of the warm wind against my face feels so good that I actually feel like I am flying. It’s about 6 o’clock in the evening and we’ve been in the car for a few hours. This part sucks because there are four other people in the car with me. It was so beautiful to see the nature all around me while driving up to steamboat springs that I almost want to tell my mom to pull over and go play in the Colorado River. Its water is so high and is roaring loudly and flowing so fast. Finally we get to the campsite and I am so excited to get out and see everything that I almost fall on my ... read more

To get this blog rolling, I wanted to take a few steps back in time to June 2006 where we ventured from here in Corpus Christi, Texas to Steam Boat Springs Colorado for the Rainbow Gathering. Soooo...im going to cheat just a little for these first few entires. I have a tendancy to be quite verbose when I write, so I'm taking the liberty to write several entries about rainbow! Also referred to as "M" or "Shel" in my writings. * Boobacita- M's ... read more

Continued from the previous two posts about Rainbow. Scroll past the People names and Dictionary if you've already seen it! Part 3- Third Day, Michelle Arrives! I left off telling you about my day with the Six Up, escorting them around the Gathering. It was the second day I was in Rainbow and still no Michelle yet! Last I heard from her before my phone went out of service was that she would look for the bus, which she would hopefully recognize from all the photos, and leave me a note. I had learned from wondering around the gathering that I really didn't think it was a good idea to not WAIT for her when she came, because it was just way too easy to get lost the first few days. So the night before I ... read more
