Six weeks after I return to the US I can say that I am finally adjusting. Don't get me wrong -Its great being back, seeing friends.. living in the most amazingest place ( I wake up every morning to the sound of the Ocean). Nonetheless, I really miss South America. Everyone always talks about the effects of arriving in other countries- the difficulties, the adjustment, the feeling of loneliness, the culture shock. Yet, no one ever speaks about the hardships of re-adjsuting. The past 6.5 months were by far the best months of my life. I completely changed as a person. Backpacking solo, I had to maintain an open mind, hope for the best, and think twice about decisions (like when I badly had to use the restroom, but was waiting for a bus and had no ... read more

HOLA! HOLA! HOLA! Hope everybody had a meaningful and memorable Christmas and New Years...man I saw photos of the crew at Eric Price... wish I was there! My first experience of Christmas and NY in America was chilled... I spent Christmas Eve at this full on Phillipino party in LA, then Christmas day at my friend Christie's family's house in the mountains...it was nice. Sadly, I caught this nasty cold the day after Christmas and was in bed till New Years Eve almost...so a group of us just got together at the Arminta house (my 2nd home in LA), drank champagne and talked the night away. We watched "The Pursuit of Happiness" the next day...GREAT MOVIE! It really makes you feel greatful for what you have. Another highlight of my Winter break was catching the subway ... read more

HI Everyone! A quick update: Sean went off to Austria on an all dude bachelor party - skiing in peaks near Salzburg! With no time to catch his breath or a cup of tea in Engand he then met up with me in California. He was my driver/chauffer the entire time here in California which is great for me but not necessarily for him... figure he's logged well over two thousand miles since his arrival maybe even three! It's been very busy since Sean arrived with wheels - I met him on arrival at LAX where I had a celebrity sighting: Jack Black of School of Rock movie fame - as usual the plane was delayed and Sean eventually made it out into the cleanish air of schmell-A. Picked up our rental then headed for our ... read more

Day 1 of the road trip: Santa Barbara. We drove along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), looked at the sea, the nature, the mountains, the pretty houses... PCH must be must one of the most beautiful roads around. It's easy to forget that you're driving and to just look at the views. Santa Barbara itself we didn't spend long in, although it was a beautiful place, we headed back to Malibu for the night... Dag 1 pa bilresan: Santa Barbara. On December 19, 2006 (exactly 1 week from today!) I will be leaving the craziness that is Southern California to embark on my first big around-the-world adventure (hopefully the first of many). Extended travel seems to be in my DNA so I have little doubt that I will quickly catch the bug. Most of my belongings have been put into storage (how did I accumulate so much stuff?). I have a plane ticket and two friends willing to put up with me (at least for now). Let the adventure begin!... read more

WOW! What an eventful week...so last friday we missioned it to the Grand Canyon at 9pm and arrived at 5am with the -2 degrees celsius temperature hitting us like crazy...it was so cold i almost cried. The Grand Canyon was immaculate...after driving through desert and wilderness...we arrive at the top and my heart literally began beating so hard and fast, i almost had a hard time breathing. Seriously, creation cries out for a creator. I have never experienced anything like it. Really, its not just a hole like people say. The stars at night wrapped around us like a dome...the twinkling was so clear and we saw falling/shooting stars almost every 3minutes. Besides enjoying one of the 7th wonders, I had such a great time with the Arminta house peeps. We laughed so hard at each ... read more

HI NZ! Lil Saint in for another update... Missing you guys like crazy! So Halloween was as crazy as I expected...DP (Del Playa St) was packed with students from all over California...saw some pretty impressive costumes...whoppie cushions, wheres wally (they call him Waldo over here)...Tissue boxes, a group of guys dressed up as Dominos, lots and lots of Napoleans, batteries etc. But the most outstanding and creative costume I think was worn by my friends Josh who was a cutip and Jeremy who was the ear...(check out the photo) I ended up dressing as a nerd with my friend Vanessa. Also, the funniest thing I saw, or the funniest thing about Halloween in SB is the police on horses...seriously...every night they had about 12 horses and their batons, waiting to...i dont know...trample on the students if ... read more

Day FIVE Started the proceedings with whar was billed as a Geordies vs The Rest f the World but in reality was 4 drunken Northerners versus 2 drunken southerners plus Kev..On the beachI was nearly sick after opening the scoring and spent the rest of the match hovering between goalkeeper and outfield leadweight..Northerners won 10-9 witha charitable but dubious last goal but we were all too hot, tired, sick to continue..I'm happy to report the Pacific is as blue as it is in my dreams..so went swimming..in the big waves and the serious undercurrents..pelicans flew over the water ina scene reminiscent of jurassic Park as Andy nearly lost his trousers to a vicious wave..decided to retire to the relative safety of the Best Western hotel where we sat near the pool for a few hours..Started to ... read more
