As I've journeyed across America some 4500 miles in the last two weeks I've had a lot of plans. However, with no one to be accountable to other than myself on most days, they have been quite easy to change! One such alteration which I'm quite happy about was my decision to push through the night to my cousin Jessica's house near San Francisco in order to join her husband Greg and my cousin Michael on a hike up Mt. Ok - this time a real synopsis - After I left Phoenix on Sunday, I arrived in Palm Springs at my Uncle Mike and Aunt Bonnie's house, also known as a two-person five star resort with great company. Their house is absolutely gorgeous, with a beautiful view of the mountains, lava rock fire pit, espresso machine, and master Chef Bonnie! Not to mention a prairie dog named Ginger who is a good lil cuddle pal. Also - was psyched to discover they had invested in a 39 solar panel system with a SunnyBoy inverter! The spring came very late. March 2006 was mostly cloudy and rainy. But there were few days without rain and even worm. Those days where perfect to have 3-4 hike to Mt Diablo falls. Yes there three waterfalls on Mt. Diablo. The hike is a nice 5 mile loop. It is perfect for early spring hiking when Yosemite is flooded. Getting there: From CA 24 or Interstate 680 in Contra Costa County, exit Ygnacio Valley Road (at the 680 split). Drive east on Ygnacio Valley Road about 7 miles, then turn south (right) on Clayton Road.
