We stopped at Morro Bay for one night. We thought it would be a good way to break up the drive from Big Sur to Ojai. We were pleasantly surprised by what we found. It was a busy, but small town with a great waterfront area and Farmer's Market. The first thing we noticed about the town were all the antique stores. We spent about an hour in one and I only saw a drop of what was there. Waaaay too much stuff and a bit pricey as well. We found a room at the local Best Western and went down town for lunch. After another great breakfast of free pancakes from our awesome hostel, we got back on the road for our second day of driving and headed towards Morro Bay. We had heard from some people at the hostel that Big Sur (which is apparently like a park right by the water with waterfalls etc) was a great place to stop at along the way, but somehow we must've driven straight past it because before we knew it we were in Morro Bay! We were staying in a Travelodge for the night, which had a heated pool and was pretty nice. THE BASICS We spent a couple of very hot days (90+ is hot to us) just lazing near a pool, and then headed to Yosemite. Several nights in a campground there, and then through Fresno to the foggy coast around San Luis Obispo. Our "endgame" has taken a bit of shape: we will arrive in Phoenix around October 21, spend a few days with Linda's brother and store the car and RV nearby, and then fly home to rake leaves before the snow falls (we hope). THE FLUFF Driving south from Sacramento area toward Yosemite, we stopped at a farm stand and loaded up.
