We haven't been able to update you recently because of the poor access to internet in LA. We're now getting settled in mammoth where the library is about a mile away, so we shouldnt have any trouble from no on. Heres a run down of whats happened so far. Our Flight to Auckland was delayed 2 hours so we got off to a pretty bad start. More flying and alot of waiting around got us to L.A at about 2pm on Friday the 8th. We went for a walk around the hotel which we would be staying at for the next 2 days and soon found out that we infact don't speak english. Aydan: "Excuse me, what does ralph's sell? When: 7th & 8th October 2006 Would this trip even happen? I was thinking about this sometime back. I had made reservations for the previous week. But there weren’t as much fall colors then. So, with lots of difficulty, I made reservations for this weekend. Every day I would check this site This was the peak time for the fall colors. Any later, we would have missed. Ram and his father joined us for this trip. Gilly managed to blag a late breakfast at Best Western in Bishop - so even though we slept in we took advantage of the complementary grub... Eventually found our accommodation in Mammoth - the town is buried under 16 feet of snow and the entrance to the hostel looks like the doorway to a igloo!! The owner and her friends arrived at the same time as we did and it looked as if we would be spending the week with the Golden Girls - the actually turned out to be really nice and a lot of fun. We were finally able to cook for ourselves after a week of eating out for nearly every meal - simple things really do make to happy - like soup for tea and being able to unpack your rucksac instead ... read more
