Last night I stayed up late to finish my packing. We just learned last Friday that we will not be able to get visa into Tibet as planned so we had to take out some of the winter clothes from our suitcases. I am almost done with my packing.... read more

June 20th 2009 Soaking up the sun California has some pretty nice weather and some pretty stunning beaches to go with it. Such a combination has made sunbathing an inevitable priority for the past few days. Having ditched the idea of wearing a nun's habit - my original answer to foolproof sunscreen - I opted for SPF 30 and a skimpy new swimsuit. On my quest for a regular bikini it quickly became apparent that Californians go in for shockingly tiny swimwear; my regular underwear is bigger than most of the suits I found! Lying on the beach in my new attire, feeling the breeze come in off the ocean and listening to the waves crash against the shore has been just delightful. And necessary. You see, earlier this week in Santa Barbara I hired a ... read more

Today we hit Laguna beach nice and early to get some sun, the weather was still not great but it was warm nevertheless. When we turned up the gingerness of Rich had disappeared, his hair was now jet black with a ginger beard, funnier than before!!! He claimed it was better but nobody else could see that, and to top things off he paid $70 for the privilege!!! In the afternoon we played volleyball on the beach before teaming up against some American's that clearly played everyday! We lost but did put up a good match against them! In the evening we headed back to the camp site and enjoyed a huge bbq and fire in the pit, Jake was happy as he could try chopping some of the logs! ... read more

After checking out the hotel we headed for a day at the beach, what a day to choose, bright sun, great beach and awesome waves! We played volleyball on the beach for a while before hitting the surf with the bodyboard we had found! In the evening we were driving round looking for somewhere to stay and bumped into these 2 girls (Katie and Jenny) in a truck, we asked them if they knew of anywhere and they said follow us to the top of the world... we did! They were heading up the hills above Laguna Beach so we followed wondering where they were taking us! We arrived at the top of this hill and parked the cars, the views were unreal, and the houses up there were even more special!!!! They said that there ... read more

Ganacaste, Costa Rica I just moved to Coco Beach in Costa Rica. This coastal stretch of land look so much like the Southern Orange County where I grew up. The views are spectacular and the food is fresh from the farm. This place is unreal. If anybody has any questions about vacationing here or anything please ask... ... read more

LATE JANUARY 2007 A Sunday run with friends at El Moro State Park reminds me how nature and wilderness can be so rejuvenating. I did spy a few bunnies and a lizard or two along the way. It is hard to believe that a Trader Joes and Ann Taylor Clothing store is a mile down the road. This is a favorite running path the wide ocean views are unmatched and the fragrance of sage is pervasive.... read more

JANUARY 2007 California in January can be SO clear and mild. I remember the winters in New York and though I love the change of seasons, who can resist our beaches in the dead of winter? An outing to Crystal Cove near Laguna Beach proved to be just the ticket to recover from the busy holiday season. ... read more
