On our last few days in Vegas, all I kept hearing was about the temperature in Phoenix, “its been 120degrees in Phoenix….” Etc etc, upon hearing this and then converting this into Celsius I nearly cried, nearly 50degrees! So off we headed to Phoenix, a little cautious about the weather, and let me tell you, it is HOT! Although only in the high 30’s, thank god, I don’t think I could stand it any hotter. We’re staying in a small little motel about 20minutes from downtown Phoenix so all exploring has been done just around this area but I cant complain. [View Full Entry]

Recovery Day North America » United States » Arizona » Winslow
Recovery Day I planned on spending the night camped on Second Mesa, but with the weather (thunderstorms and loud noise), KC said “NO”. The closest location with lodging was Winslow, AZ. On the way here we went through the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert National Park. It is a small rather insignificant park, but it does protect the petrified wood. It was mid-day when we got here with the sun high in the sky and the light flat for photography. However there were enough clouds to create contrasting images and the petrified wood is ideal for abstracts. So the day was spe [View Full Entry]

Whoa. Since my last entry, we have driven all around the state of Colorado, visited Utah, and hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back. We originally planned all these great places to see...Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc, but between concert tickets I bought for a show in Colorado and a last minute opening for the hike down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, the time restraints eliminated a lot of options. However, it did create the chance to see a lot more of Colorado than originally planned. I'd like to start by saying how much I appreciate: A. Hiking [View Full Entry]

[View Full Entry]

Not a lot to report today. I woke up, had a snack two cups of coffee a shower and got on the bike.... I stopped in New Mexico to visit a friend and then wound up in Tucson as night fell... I was in the groove and could have ridden longer. As it was I logged 775 miles today. I am glad I stopped. I explored Tucson as I lived here in ...1976... the apt is now a parking garage and no body lI know lives in the houses I knocked at. Bill had some adventures today.. it seems that today [View Full Entry]

This looks like a plan...

Aside from Belize with its strong Caribbean influence not a whole lot changes travelling from one Central American country to another. The attractive public spaces and town squares I couldn't stop photographing when we first got to San Cristobal in Mexico with their pastel coloured colonial churches and buildings are to be found somewhere in every Central American country. As you cross borders the jungle scenery and what lives in their doesn't change much from one country to the next. Basically Cental America is hot, and green. You could say the same about South East Asia, but in South East As [View Full Entry]

Home Again~  North America » United States » Arizona » Phoenix
Hi All! We have been home for a week now. We spent the last week of our trip in Santa Fe, New Mexcio, arriving in Northern Arizona on Sept. 2nd. We stayed in Flagstaff for 2 days so we could buy supplies to go camping over the Labor Day weekend with our friends and family at Hutch Mountain. To be honest, I was not all that impressed with Santa Fe. The weather was nice, and down town was nice to walk around and see shops, and the southwestern architecture, but New Mexico as a whole is pretty barren. I guess coming [View Full Entry]

Ok, soweit so gut.
