Yesterday (aka August 9th) was an awesome day!! So I'm starting to wonder if my sickness from two days ago had any relation to the fact that it was 08-08-08!! So, I've been job hunting. This has been my quest: to find a secure job that will give me enough hours and at least $8 an hour. Of course you all heard about the coffee cart on campus. That place is called "Common Grounds" and it seems pretty relaxed. I'll be working this little kiosk-type of thing that is set up outside one of UA's more popular buildings. The drive from NM to AZ was long and hot...the Top Down Tour became the Top Up Tour again..... Hanging out with Jenn, Matt, Marley and Luc. Having a great couple days visiting. Temperatures in the 110’s. They say it’s a dry heat, but let me say it is still uncomfortable. We had the pleasure of taking Marley to school. The recent history begins with Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter and Fred Harvey, who hired Colter to design the hotel. But La Posada closed in 1957; for the next 40 years, its future remained tenuous. I'm a little behind as I didn't update my travelblog after my LONG day yesterday. It was a really good day but it was extremely long and I was exhausted by the end of it. Williams, AZ - We caught the Grand Canyon Railways Williams Flyer on Thursday morning bound for the Grand Canyon. The ride was about 2 and a 1/2 half hours, delivered us right to Grand Canyon Village, and really saved a lot of hassle. The park has an efficient shuttle bus system, so there really is no need for a car there. We packed in with our camping gear, took the bus to the camp area and set up our stuff. Ok, so it's been quite some time since my last post. I apologize for my negligence, but I'm sure none of you minded. Well, things started smooth enough today. We left Henderson at a decent time (although later then I wanted) and got on Rt 93. We crossed over the Hoover Dam, but first stopped at the overlook that looks out on Lake Mead. We were going to take the dam tour to see the inner workings of it, but it was $30/person, so we decided to skip it. Besides, there was quite a line ahead of us.
