Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - quite a few days so far in Sedona and we’ve done a few things as well as just relaxed. I picked up Les at the Phoenix airport on Sunday without a hitch and we ambled our way up to Sedona, stopping for lunch and some shopping on the way. We settled in with our friends in their rather spectacular home that overlooks the whole Sedona valley. The place is pretty special as is the company of our friends. I’ve been up a few mornings early and out for a walk before the heat of the day hit. What a great way to start the day. I get to see some unique morning wildlife which are bunnies and a lot of little lizards scampering out of the way. We are here just ... read more

The lovely time continues here in Phoenix...... visiting, dinners, friends and family. And then a great two day girlie trip up into the mountains with Clarice and Sandra. We had such fun..... Beautiful sights, awesome red mountains, fabulous towns and scary mountain roads! We even saw snow ......yes, we were up so high we saw snow in Arizona!! Drama too when I got stuck in my hotel bedroom when the handle fell off the door..... yikes! There are LOTS of pics here of red rocks.... sorry, so hard to choose, so flung most of them in! It was a fabulous two days, felt like a week! Awesome, thank you Clarice, Darryl and Sandra x... read more

Hmmm. Where to start? It's been a long while and as I write this, I'm sitting in a summer house in Hanstholm (North West tip of Denmark) where two people are listening to audio files, telling the story of this place, it's natural wave energy center and the communities around it. They sit with headphones on, and occasionally off, and I can hear the repetitive hypnotic sound of voices in Danish and English as they tell the story. It's part of a project we've been working on over the summer, called simply, the Walking Sticks. Four walking sticks sit at a cafe in Hanstholm, and people can take them for a hike around the cliffside area on the ocean lining the edges of Hanstholm. The sticks are from the National Park Thy, located here, and are ... read more

Next stop Sedona, AZ for three nights. The 90 miles from the Grand Canyon to Sedona was an easy trip past San Francisco Mountain and Flagstaff and we arrived at a lovely RV park along Oak Creek a few miles from Sedona. Next day we scouted out Cathedral Rock for sunset viewing locations and walked by the “Vortex” along Oak Creek. The so-called Vortex which Sedona is famous for, displayed many balanced stones from folk trying to shed bad energy. Then we joined lots of photographers for views of Cathedral Rock at sunset. Everyone was friendly and shared the better photo set up locations, only the wedding party across Oak Creek were in Kayla’s way of “the no hand of man” pictures of Cathedral. Next day was haircut for Richard, a 4 mile hike to Chicken ... read more

August 1st, 2013 Day 23 Our destination today was Sedona, AZ., 192 miles. After spending the night at Audrey & Dave's house, we had breakfast together in Scottsdale at the " Good Egg". We were on the road to Flagstaff and then to spend the night in Sedona by 9:00 am. The ride was hot until we got into the mountains. We visited Kathy & Russ Furstnow in Flagstaff. His workshop is quite impressive. We then backtracked to Sedona through some heavy rain. Jacque & Mae... read more

July 31st, 2013 8:46 pm PDT Day 22 We left Yuma, AZ. and went to the Mexican Border @ the town of ALgadonaes. We did not have passports to cross the border. Took some pictures and left for the Yuma State Prison, it was closed, again took pictures. Then we drove to the Cloud Museum in Bard, CA. We knew that this museum was closed during the summer. Thought we would just take pictures of the things you can see outside. Took a picture of our Model T Ford at the sign. There was a man mowing grass at the house next door, he saw us taking pictures and came over to us. He turned out to be the owner of the museum and offered a tour of the museum. We spent one hour there and ... read more

Dawn was scheduled for a business trip to Phoenix so we decided to take advantage of her free trip to book a little side trip to Sedona for both of us. I used mileage on American for my ticket and rented a car online. I met Dawn at the Holiday Inn Express near the Phoenix airport where they were meeting and then we hit the road for Sedona. It was just over 100 miles north on I-17 to get to Hwy. 179. You go north and before long you are hit with some of the most amazing scenery in the world. I can only compare it to what it might be like to drive through the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Granted, the buttes are not as high as the Grand Canyon is deep. The town ... read more

... some quick pictures from Sedona's single track festival! Fun trails to ride with some pretty amazing scenery in the back. We both enjoyed a group ride or two, some post ride parties and talking shop over pizza. Today Jo had an easy day and "took the wife out for a ride!" Kona had a successful trip of treasures in Sedona with a ball tally of 9! We have no idea how she finds them but she clearly has their scent tuned in at all times! ....and after a long few days of nursing some dehydration, she got a hair cut and came out of the woods holding a clear sign that she had a long few days but was feeling much better- we'll leave the picture to explain. enjoy!... read more

Last two days in Vegas went by in flash- Suz and Tracie flew to join me on Thursday and there was lots more walking up and down the Strip day and night to see the Bellagio Fountains ( 3or 4 times), Caesar's Palace not to mention the volcano at the Mirage...and for those of you who havent seen my FB page the great news that my $10 stake ( whch Richard had sent me- saying I had to make a bet) was turned into $100 on the roulette wheel at Caesars Casino !!!! Nobody was more surprised than me - I followed Pat's advice and stuck to one colour - and RED kept coming up...I also had a hunch when to quit before I lost it all again. I can see how people get hooked on ... read more

...quick update from the road as we are heading out of Sedona. It's been fun weekend taking in the mountain bike festival- we both enjoyed "shredding the red" as the call it here! Some fun action shots to come!! I held my own but definitely am far from keeping up with Jo!!! We also got a swim in today at the community pool (where all the champion Triathletes train- the elevation is pretty high here and a common place to train for a lot in the off season).... and their locker rooms have warm showers- bonus!! After a morning of mountain biking and swimming we felt we deserved some $1 tacos!!! We will try to get some pictures loaded tonight - from here headed for a night in Flagstaff and then west to CA!!!
