When i woke up at 6:30 am on a beautiful Vegas morning i knew it was going to be a good day. We got picked up outside Circus Circus and travelled for half hour by mini bus to a small airport just outside of town, where we drove straight through some open gates onto the air field. We were instantly surrounded by hundreds of 10 - 20 seater sight seeing planes. This was incredible itself to see a few square miles littered with millions of dollas worth of small aircraft, never mind what we were actually going to see! Soon after we arrived we checked in with our tour guide (for about 10 minutes at most), then we were straight into the air with our pilot, who was about 6ft 8" and a really sound guy, ... read more

UPDATED: January 3, 2009 I saw a t-shirt that said, "I Love the Grand Canyon" with a hip design that I kind of liked. I decided that I would wait until after we hiked out of the Grand Canyon before I made any purchasing decisions. I wound up buying a shot glass instead If they had a shirt that said, "I might love the Grand Canyon a few years from now when the incredible pain from hiking to the bottom and back out is a distant memory"....I would have bought that one. We were off to a good start heading down the South Kaibab Trail. A couple hours into it I thought to myself, "this is great...I could do this all day!" Our bags were heavy with water. While there are a couple water stations on ... read more

One of the four days in Las Vegas was devoted to visiting the Grand Canyon. We went on this organised tour with about 40 other people. It was a very luxurious trip and the coach was comfortable. On the way to Grand Canyon we stopped by the Hoover Dam. And then carried on to the West rim. We visited two points on the west rim, which were pretty good in terms of the view. How can we describe the Grand Canyon? Exquisite, breathtaking, unbelievable, simply wonderful! It seriously doesn’t matter that so many people say it’s overrated. We didn’t care and definitely think it was just stunning! It’s def one of the things that need be ticked off of your list.... read more

The Grand Canyon is a fair old distance from Vegas so we had to get up at the disgusting time of 5:30am so we could catch our tour bus. Now I'm a pretty level-headed, unprejudiced person that sees the good in most people but our tour guide was the biggest dipsh*t idiot ever. He absolutely loved himself and told us far too much about his personal life and how awesome he thought he was rather than about the Grand Canyon itself. His name is Mark Antony and he should be avoided like the plague. On the plus side we got a good breakfast and packed lunch. I think it may have been down to the fact that it was in a brown paper bag. I think it just tastes better out of one. Same goes for ... read more

Woke up and had the included breaky. Pretty average. Not much options. Just grabbed a croissant. After that it was on the bus to go to the helicopters for those who chose to do that optional which was almost everyone. We all got weighed and watched a safety video. The choppers were all delayed due to high winds and were almost canceled which would have sucked big time. The delays ended up not being too long. I got to ride shot gun with the pilot. Awesome. It was so good. I thought it might be kinda scary, me hating heights and all but it was just amazing. Blows you away. The weather was overcast and misty but still got some good photos. Its so cool flying into the canyon. You start flying over trees etc and ... read more

It was so good to wake up today and not be hung over. Especially after yesterdays efforts. Hot air ballooning was on this morning with a very early wake up of i think around 4am. I did not do it, Cat did though and really enjoyed it. Some people who were out drinking last night pulled an all righter not sleeping before ballooning. 3 others missed the optional from sleeping in after their night out. That would suck because its an expensive optional to miss. The drive to Grand Canyon was pretty cool. Awesome scenery and cool little towns. Main stop was Sedona. I think almost all of us did the options red rock jeep ride. It was really awesome - totally recommend it. We got taken off road and through the red rocks of Sedona. ... read more
