The RV park is teatacam has all facilities needed in a Mexican style. lots of trees for shade, walking distance to everything needed including the lake, power 30 amp that needs a surge protector its very high , the water is drinkable but the pressure is so low it took 2.5 hours to do a load of wash in a standard north american wash machine. Nice and quiet except for the Mexican roosters whom seem to crow anytime like 2 AM and so forth. Getting ready for a boat tour this morning on a small skiff with 12 people and of course all the kids . We set of 8 am, clear skies and a slight wind. We explored some lovely homes and business on the shoreline as well as crocodiles, and birds galore. It was ... read more

We left our beautiful beach spot at coco and headed south on MEX 180 to Catemaco.........believe me libra roads not bad and the most beautiful as we enter further into the tropics. Temperature hovering around 23 deg c in early morn we carried on through sugar cane fields , actual cow feed lots and towns of all wood carvings, then towns of sweets and more sweets and more. Only 1 toll 40 pesos then of coarse the road was terrible, no shoulder tire busting pot holes and topez to kill your unit.......but we all made it with no more than fridge doors jard open and a few broken draws etc. Viva Mexico. Arrived safe and sound on Catemaco lake we are Happy its Beautiful... read more

I stayed two days in a campground called "La Jugla" on the shore of lake Catemaco. They tell me that "Medicine Man" and "Apocalyto" were filmed here and I don't doubt that because it is such a fantastic jungle setting. I didn't have to drive far to get here but it was pretty brutal. I almost bailed on trying to find the campground because I had a hard time finding the entrance and it got a lot worse after that. The so called "road" into this place was little more than a path through the jungle that inexplicably split a couple of times. I had GPS coordinates to aim at but my GPS promptly lost its way under the thick canopy. The birds, monkeys, and something that sounded like R2-D2 started mocking me when I stopped ... read more

Today was our day for Catemaco. Though the town is only maybe 40 miles at most, the trip was going to take 3 hours. We got up at 3 a.m. our time, got ready and headed out the door to meet up with Karla's aunt and cousin who were tagging along. This time I was driving. We had no trouble finding the road we wanted, but the road was less than stellar. There were many little towns and the towns consisted of no more than topes, restaurants, and muts. The topes were always exciting as some could be massive whereas others you'd hardly feel. We were on the free highway and I was quite surprised to see that it was full of trucks. Apparently they can take the extra time to save some money. The road ... read more

ENG/ESP/SLO Nanciyaga, Veracruz, Mèxico Aug 7, 2005 A MAGIC PLACE IN THE JUNGLE Right now I am lying in a hammock writing these words in the middle of the magic Tuxtla´s jungle 700kms away from Mexico City. Last week was very intense. Learning Japanese, searching for sponsors for my ticket and in the middle of these intense efforts, I received an e mail from a friend I met last week: -“You can´t leave Mexico until you have tried the Temazcal in Nanciyaga, Veracruz. I invite you this weekend, we leave the day after tomorrow. I have the tickets and the cabin confirmation…” This mail arrived like a big surprise. I answered: -“Cool, it looks perfect… See you on Thursday then.” Departure: 00.00 hrs from the City of Caos toward peace. Arrival: 08:00am to the region of ... read more
