Peacehiker - Matej Sedmak

Matej Sedmak Around the world with no money: I went on the road from Slovenia as 20-year old Matej Sedmak, with a big backpack, guitar and 200 dollars, to hitchhike around the world. I crossed Europe, United States, Mexico, Central America and Cuba and now I am in Mexico again as 21-year-old Peacehiker, with a small green backpack, absolutely no money, looking for a ride to Japan. Join me and see how the story unfolds. I write daily reports on the webpage www.peacehiker.com in three languages.

Queretaro, Mexico **** **** **** **** **** An unexpected shift on my journey **** **** **** **** **** Against all my plans and expectations, I encounter myself now in Queretaro, 300 kilometers from Mexico City, in a house of a girl that I met two weeks ago. I feel like the main hero in the sweetest and craziest romantic comedy of my life. It all started on a Sunday night in the middle of the Mexican jungle. My friend, who invited me to Nanciyaga, was leaving to Mexico and I decided to stay. I was without a place to sleep, so [View Full Entry]

Lorena and Santiago

ENG/ESP/SLO Nanciyaga, Veracruz, Mèxico Aug 7, 2005 A MAGIC PLACE IN THE JUNGLE Right now I am lying in a hammock writing these words in the middle of the magic Tuxtla´s jungle 700kms away from Mexico City. Last week was very intense. Learning Japanese, searching for sponsors for my ticket and in the middle of these intense efforts, I received an e mail from a friend I met last week: -“You can´t leave Mexico until you have tried the Temazcal in Nanciyaga, Veracruz. I invite you this weekend, we leave the day after tomorrow. I have the tickets and the cabin [View Full Entry]

Mexico City 15:00 ENO PISEM BOGU Bog, sedim na klopci sredi nakupovalnega centra, sokiran in srecen. Neverje [View Full Entry]

World Trade Center, Ciudad de Mexico 20:35 I just entered one of the internet cafes and asked if they can sponsor me few hours of internet, so I can do some research about which companies to visit. Today I spent all day going from company to company and it brought no results. I received a letter from Japan Airlines and they gave me a discount, so the ticket would cost me 880 dolars. I divided this in 10 parts and now I keep asking companies to participate with one part. I feel good. Every company that refuses me, brings me closer [View Full Entry]

Mexico City, 31th of July, 2005 On Tuesday I was on Japan Airlines and after two hours of waiting (almost in front of the doors of his office), the director of the company T. Hayashi, finally accepted me. He was really nice and he has one of the coolest offices that I have ever seen! “Boy, I like your mission and your enthusiasm, but unfortunately we cannot give you a free ticket. We will think about a discount,” he finished our conversation. It disappointed me a little, since I explained to him in details, how Japan Airlines could benefit from my [View Full Entry]
