SATURDAY (1-19-13): We arrived in to Tuxtla on time (8:00 pm) and the airport was almost empty. The 50 people on our plane were the only people in immigration. 30 minutes after arrival we had hit the ATM machine, had a pocket full of pesos and were in our taxi on our way to Chiap de Corzo. On the way, our driver told me that the city was a little bit crazy so he may not be able to get into the central area and we may have to walk a bit. This trip was EXCELLENT! Yesterday our hosts took us on a great trip to Chiapas de Corzo where we took a boat on the Grijalba river, where we could explore the beautiful CaƱon de Sumidero. We were stunned by the size and peacefullness of it. During the trip we were lucky enough to see some crocodiles as well as vultures. On the way back, while still on the boat, we got caught by a heavy tropical rain, which resulted in us getting completely soaked. All wet and cold we sat through the return journey to San Cristobal. And as we were exhausted from the previous night out we went to bed nice and early for a change. ... read more

Dias Uno! Arrived in Mexico City after a pretty good flight in business class, not to shabby. I enjoyed a fair few ales on the 11 hour journey. Although we still had to eat economy food as we were upgraded, so no fillet steak for me this time. We got to Mexico City at about 2am GMT and 8pm in Mexico and were both very tired. Got into a taxi to get to our hotel, the journey was pretty interesting. There was traffic everywhere and the traffic lights had stopped working at a major crossroads so after that the taxi driver had no hesitation driving through red lights for the rest of the journey. As we were sitting in traffic there was a boy selling machetes to people in their cars. Hey only in Mexico City. ... read more
