The issue of reconciling Quebec's francophone heritage with the majority anglophone Canadian population has moved to the back burner in recent years; support for separatism abated after the Quebec government's referendum on independence failed to pass in October of 1995.

So the last place I updated about was Halifax, which I actually visited before Quebes City. The rest of Quebec City I pretty much stayed in a shitty mood, I couldn’t shake it. I guess that happens sometimes. Nothing really impressed me, and it kept raining. It’s a shame, because everyone else who goes there absolutely loves it. Da bin ich also, im wunderbaren Kanada .... besser gesagt, im wunderbaren Québec, auf diesen Unterschied legen die franzoesisch sprechenden Kanadier naemlich viel Wert. Der Flug hierher war recht lang und beschwerlich; unser Flugzeug hatte technische Probleme, so konnten wir erst mit zwei stuendiger Verspaetung vom Flughafen "Charles-de-Gaulle" in Paris starten. Arriving at La Ronde as a punter

Montreal has a lot of things going for it, the scenery, the old town and a lot of French speaking people. Which is a little strange at first as you're in Canada not France. So we arrived in Montreal at 10:30 on Monday. We were going to attempt to catch the train to the hostel, but with my massive suitcase, shoulder bag, laptop bag & handbag, and Vanessa’s TWO massive suitcases, we didn’t like our chances. Ah, Montreal. The city that I call home when I travel. We're back in Montreal for the summer, and we're loving it! Since my last blog, we’ve sailed into Canada and spent a week in Montreal, climbed a few hundred feet in elevation to the fresh waters of Lake Ontario via the St. Lawerence Seaway Lock system, glanced at Quebec City’s mighty castle, pulled along side Pier 4 in downtown Toronto, and visited Niagara Falls.
