This is the log for the second day (Saturday, 30 July 2016) ITINERARY We left our hotel for the first evening, Westin Wall Centre, Richmond and set off to the east at 8 am. Stopped for toilet break at Hope, a small town by the side of Fraser River. Had lunch at Kamloops. Visited a waterfall at Spahats Falls, Clearwater Valley. Arrived at Valemount by 7 pm for dinner and sleeping for the night. Total distance travelled was around 700km. REFLECTIONS I woke up early at 5:30 to take a stroll along the Fraser River behind the Westin Wall Centre. To my delight, I saw some seagulls, a Great Blue Heron and a flock of Canada Geese. A lonely seal was popping in and out of the cold water of Fraser River. The rolling green hills, ... read more

These were some photographs that were left out from yesterday's blog. So this is an addition before we journey on. Hope - the quaint little town with many wood carvings included this cottage surrounded by blooming flowers hinding a large cat (wood) and two cranes (wood) Seagull perched on a ship wreck in the middle of Fraser River running behind Westin Wall Centre. In the same shipwreck was a Great Blue Heron that was motionless. A flock of Canada Goose flew past. A seal popping its head in and out of the cold waters of Fraser River. ... read more

Geo: 52.83, -119.277We're just about to leave B.C. and DH has given me my camera back (the only reason I got it back before Alberta had to do with a close encounter with a black bear- even DH knew that this bear was demanding to be photographed). It's really too bad I couldn't get a few more shots because this westernmost province is one of the most spectacular photo op areas on the planet. DH doesn't want to spoil the surprise for the airlift of visitors that she is expecting once we do settle into our new Kelowna condo later this year. I used to live in B.C. some years ago and my job required extensive travel throughout the province. Either they added a few more lakes, grew some mountains, and added vast tracks of forest ... read more

Geo: 52.8267, -119.277I got up early this morning, determined to see wildlife, and set off along the same path we'd hiked the night earlier. Though it was very early, aside from an errant rabbit, I came up short. I did come across a far wilder animal -- David -- as I exited the woods, and he entered, with the same goal in mind as I. I startled him a bit, but not enough to keep him from exploring the path further. I continued the other way, and literally stumbled across a wildlife preserve behind our cabin complex. It was a very nice and well-marked trail -- unlike the night before -- but aside from some great views, I saw no one and no things out there with me.Everyone was up and ready for breakfast when I ... read more

2011-07-01 DAY TWO – CACHE CREEK TO VALEMOUNT, BC This morning we woke to the sound of rain on the roof of our trailer. Our drive today took us through Kamloops and then north on the Yellowhead Hwy, past the entrance to Wells-Gray Provincial Park and on to Valemount where we will spend the night. Our road today paralleled the North Thompson River pretty much all the way. Once again the river is VERY FULL and quite dramatic at times. Of course, the most dramatic spots are in places where there is no room to pull over to get a picture!! Anyway, here are a few shots I took today to share with you. Tomorrow we will take our time though Mt. Robson Provincial Park and Jasper National Park. Hopefully the sun will break through the ... read more

Servus! So what to start with? Alright, Toronto... the weather was not my friend last weekend and so I haven't had the chance the visit some nice sights of Toronto like the CN tower or the island. I only stayed there for 2 nights anyway and I had a good time with Jasmin, my franco-allemande host there, his cat Romeo and some of her French friends. Merci à tous! Last Monday I then made my way from the east to the west crossing the country, which meant 3 days and 3 nights in the bus!*wohoo* Luckily there were not too many people and little Kat could spread out on two seats to get at least some sleep. I had a one day stop over in the national park Jasper, where I got a first taste of ... read more
