Surprised?

Well, I thought it's time to get an own blog started... especially because I always run out of capacity when it comes to uploading pictures. And this one is said to be illimited... we will see!:)

There is only one hurdle to overcome with a blog: what language to write in to reach ALL of you guys... so I decided to write in English in general as most of you will be somehow able to understand, at least a bit of it. And if there is something which regards specific people or I would like to point out something for a particular reader(s group), I will allow myself to post it in the corresponding language, which also includes Bavarian of course - my inofficial mother tongue!;)

The blog will cover my current trip in North and Central America starting from New York, crossing Canada, travelling along the US west coast down to Mexico and probably Guatemala and Belize within 3 months. Unfortunately already have passed by....

I also uploaded the pics from my 1-month trip to Argentina and Chile, which you can find in the first blog entry.

So enjoy and do not forget to leave me a comment or drop me a message once in a while to keep me going... ;)

Cheers,

Kat

Hola! So the time has come and this will be my last entry… for this trip at least!;) But let’s start from the beginning of this last month… I stayed a whole week in México D.F. (City) with Sebas, where we had a great time. We discovered the theme park Six Flags with its amazing roller coasters, went to a local Spa in a nearby hotel to relax and work out a bit to lose a bit of the weight I put up due to all the delicious Mexican food his family made me try. My spice level is surprisingly high now and I even enjoy it!:) You just can't refuse the spicy Tamal breakfast wrapped in banana leaves for instance.... Sebas father invited me to come to a family get-together in his home town Toluca ... read more

Hello out there! It's been a while, I know... and that's why I have a lot to tell and loooads of pictures for you for a change!;) I spent almost a week in amazing San Francisco where there's lots to do and see like cycling the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito and even further up the hills to have a fantastic view on the bay, chekcing out the steep streets, the Fisherman's Wharf and much more. Oh, and shopping... right, you shouldn't come up with that idea as a backpacker, BUT the dollar is so cheap... and there were even sales on... and the shops are just amazing. So I couldn't resist the one or other shirt for $10 (=7 EUR only)! So I met some people from the San Francisco Industrial Ecology conference. After a ... read more

Hi guys, I can't believe that more than one month is already over... and it is almost half time!=( I still had a really good time in the Rocky Mountains doing nice rides with the horses from the ranch (except for the small incident when Riette fell off the horse resulting in a mild concusion). One of the highlights in Valemount was the Rodeos! I wouldn't have thought that the western style as we know it from the movies and as we dress up for carneval really existed here! That was just amazing! I loved being around the real cowboys as a real cowgirl, even if it was just the High School Rodeos!:) I also went on a beautiful hike, the Swift Loop in the Rockies and walked to the Little Lost Lake to hang out ... read more

Servus! So what to start with? Alright, Toronto... the weather was not my friend last weekend and so I haven't had the chance the visit some nice sights of Toronto like the CN tower or the island. I only stayed there for 2 nights anyway and I had a good time with Jasmin, my franco-allemande host there, his cat Romeo and some of her French friends. Merci à tous! Last Monday I then made my way from the east to the west crossing the country, which meant 3 days and 3 nights in the bus!*wohoo* Luckily there were not too many people and little Kat could spread out on two seats to get at least some sleep. I had a one day stop over in the national park Jasper, where I got a first taste of ... read more

Hi everybody, Last Saturday I got on my first bus journey here heading to Montreal to visit this 'ville quebecoise' and of course to see Cecile, my beloved friend and ex-flat mate from Toulouse. Two friends from Toulouse were there at the same time and so we could spent a lot of time together with Laurie and Emma. After a night out in the Village we had a pretty good lunch outside in the back yard. In the evening we went to an „impro“ (Quebec seems to be known for them), which is a kind of a theatre where two teams improvise a short play and the spectators decide after each session what team is best. Was great fun - although I had to get used to the accent there first, which is indeed different from ... read more

Hello everybody from the United States of America! The first one and a half weeks flew away like a little bird and I feel like I should finally write the first post to give you a quick update about my plans and what I've seen (yes, pictures!). So I spent a couple of days in New York City, which was just amazing! The city surprised me in a positive way and I saw a lot of things as you can see below. I also visitied Ground Zero on the day Barack Obama happened to go there as well. I only found out when I saw all those police cars and camera teams actually. I spent my last night near Bleeker Street at Chiara's place and finally also met her future husband. There are loads of nice ... read more
