Hello all, We went up to the north of Lake Galilee today to see Capernaum where Peter's House is. They have built a large protective structure over it which has a glass floor so you can look down into it. Supposedly it is where the sick man was lowered through the roof.?? There was also a Tabernacle there which was built over the one that Jesus preached in. I think this one is 4th century. The Mount of the Beatitudes is only about 10 miles away and that was a beautiful setting. About a mile up from the lake where as Capernaum was right on the lake. The supposition is that Jesus could have stayed with Peter at this house ??? What you come to realize when your here is the issue of the lay of ... read more

We still have The Church of the Loaves & Fishes in Tabgha. Mount of Beatitudes.Capernaum and Magdala. To see. Also a day trip to Akko a Crusader city from A.D. 1291.It's over on the Mediterranean north of Haifa, about a 2 hour drive Here are some images from today Lowell... read more

Hello again from Israel. would you believe in 12 days we will be back in th old USA ? Today we are in the far northeast of Israel. We drove up into the Golan Heights. We were able to see into Syria see where the Israel- Syria war happened.. The roads are narrow and you do see signs of the war. We made a loop and went up to the Lebanese border but could not get to the border. We drove up the east side of Lake Galilee AKA Kinneret "Lake of the Harp" as from the air it is harp shaped. All the meaningful area near the lake are on the west side. Tiberias, Ginosar, Tabgha, Capernnaum. etc. Here are some images from today always Lowell... read more

Hello everybody, We have moved from Haifa to closer to the Sea of Galilee. We will be in this area 5 full days. Today we toured the ancient city of Megiddo. We were looking across the Jezreel Valley where the site of the final battle is foretold in Revelation. This city was rebuilt by King Soloman in 30 BC over city after city built and destroyed below it. The mock up image shows what it would have been in its hayday ? Here are some images I know it's hard to visualize. Even when you see it in person Lowell... read more

today we had breakfast on the run from a bakery and headed straight to Nazareth I was the navigator and we did a little tour of Nazareth before getting into the nazareth village so we arrived 10min late but when we got there other groups were also late so it didnt seem to matter but it was full of tour groups and we had to really keep moving but as Pete would say it was a moving experience. we bought a bit of hebron glass here it was good prices hopefully we can get it home in one piece. one thing that accured to me here is that a lot of the tools used 2000 yrs ago and probably 4000 yrs ago were still being used just over 100 yrs ago and it reminded me of ... read more

Yom-Kipur is the day of atonement a day sanctified in the israeli calender when like the sabath no work is done but the focus leading up to this day is a reflection of sins committed and this is the day they ask for forgiveness, it is part of a series of feasts at this time of year the next one in a few days is the feast of tabernacles and you can already see the booths being made around the place. today no cars are allowed to be driven and everything is closed so for much of the day it is very quiet and at times feels like noone is here at all, a few people are around we saw some walking from a synagogue and a few people were swimming in the sea. there was ... read more

had breakfast at our hotel in tiberius Aviv for the last time and packed our gear to go down the road to Annats house bnb which is closer to the sea we unloaded our bags and headed to Gamla called massadah of the north because it withstood a siege for 7 months from herod and then 2 roman legions came and defeated them but with heavy casualties however all 9000 Jews were either killed by the romans or fell from the cliffs to their deaths. this is an amazing area of the Golan heights and in the winter has an amazing waterfall but it was dry this time of year. Apparently Flaius Josephus was here during the revolt and may have even been a leader but he escaped and was later caught near Nazereth. we then ... read more

first stop today magdalla a relatively new excavation of a town near tiberius we had a good guide there who explained the ancient town and how it came to an end around AD70 it had a large synagogue with mosaics on the floors and plastered walls but it was demolished by its own residents when the Romans approached to make a wall, you can see all the stones and pillars that belong to the synagogue roughly put together to make a wall to protect the city but it did not keep the Romans out and we know the Romans were there because they found a roman sword and roman dice as well as all the Jewish coins etc. it was from here that Mary Magdalene came and she followed Him till his death and Resurrection, Jesus ... read more
