Getting away from it all in South Wales
Published: August 23rd 2011Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Pembrokeshire » TenbyBecause we haven't had a holiday this year and our big one isn't coming up til the Autumn, back in July we spent 3 nights in a friends' caravan in the beautiful reort of Tenby, Pembrokeshire in South Wales. The weather prospects were rather dire so we took warm clothes, books, DVD's and no sunscreen. We would regret that last omission! The caravan is actually 5 miles from Tenby in the tiny village of Manorbiere. It's quiet, pretty and a lovely spot for oldies like us or families with young children. We drove straight there - almost all the way on the M4. To our delight the sun came out as we arrived in Tenby and from thereon it was warm (even hot!) apart from as we drove towards the caravan park and I commented on ... read more
One of the highlights of our recent whistlestop trip back to the UK was Carew Castle and Tidal Mill in Pembrokeshire. The weather was great and we had a nice walk around the tidal estuary and we had excellent bara brith and bad coffee at the little cafe overlooking the castle. Before exploring, we had a proper british pub lunch in a proper british pub...another highlight of the trip! Just wanted to post a few pictures really...... read more
"Where is Will there is a Way"
Published: September 15th 2009Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Pembrokeshire » TenbyHello Friends.. As they say "Where is Will, There is a Way" I have Will to explore beauty kept hidden everywhere on Earth, in each soul and as a result I always find the way to get closer to these beautiful places and people :-) Last week I got chance to visit Wales(South West) and found the area, smell in the air, people, everything was different eventhough its part of United Kingdom. I think I experienced different World. I been to Tenby, Saundersfoot and some of the near by villages. as I always says Pictures are better to read than writings so have a look pics and ignore my writings ;-)) Hope you'll enjoy and probably will enjoy your visit in this part of Wales. Thanks" Kuldip x... read more
Our love affair with Wales continues. I found a cottage with my usual thrift and speed - a week later we were off to the West with Eesvan and Ro, a doctor and a lawyer. They're not as bad as they sound. We picked said individuals up from Oxford and forged ahead. Things got amusing when the normally infallible Tomtom started to play up - having decided we felt peckish, we instructed the machine to find sustenance. It found us a rabbit. The blasted satnav decided that instead of taking us to the motorway services stop via, say, the motorway, it would indulge in a geographical flight of fancy and take us via the small backroads. On the backroads, I squashed a rabbit (they're pests here, be ye not squeamish). Thus the makers of Tomtom are ... read more
17th August Got up to the sun shining in the windows. The boys woke up before 8 o'clock this morning which is extremely unusual. I've veen wondering what this camp ground reminds me of - it's Hi Di Hi you know that programme with the staff in yellow coats...... We had evening entertainment last night, some man called JC played games with the kids and then the parents got to play bingo. Blake wants to go back tonight for the dancing. We've met some kids along the way. Some love mountain biking, not many cricketers and some footballers and lots of gaelic footballers. People don't believe that the kids are only 6, 10 and 12. Anton entered a competition on the ferry the other day and the guy running it said that if he won Anton ... read more
Walking in Pembrokeshire
Published: September 13th 2007Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Pembrokeshire » TenbyThis weekend we decided to venture west and visit the beautiful Pembrokshire Coastal Path. Basically they have established a 186 mile walking trail in the South West corner of Wales which hugs the coast line all the way. Being the 9-5 slaves we now are, we ventured off on Friday night, Jason catching the train from Newport to Bridgend while Kirstyn frantically purchased an entire camping get-up for the weekend! We made it across to Freshwater East a little after 8 and suprisingly managed to erect our unseen tent in the dark without too much hassle. It was great to be back out camping again enjoying some basic camp food on our new, cheap imitation trangia, as well as a drop of beer and vino! The next morning after a hearty brekkie we walked down to ... read more
Bella Italia! .... Or Wales?
Published: December 9th 2006Europe » United Kingdom » Wales » Pembrokeshire » TenbyWe had been planning our trip to Tuscany for ages. Moving to the UK to travel and then being held back from going overseas had been so frustrating. So a trip to Tuscany was well overdue - and just what the Doctor ordered. Well if you haven’t’ yet heard the sordid story I’d better take a step back. As you probably know I have an EU passport. Through me, Brendon can gain EU residency. Before leaving home he applied & got an EEA spousal visa. The final step to his EU residency was simple - or so we were told - just send in our passports to the UK Home Office within six months of arriving in the UK & he’d get a nice rubber stamp. Hah! Have you seen the state of the public service ... read more

On the Friday we took off to Wales and to the B & B we were going to stay in for the long weekend over here which actually falls on Jule's birthday!! We were going to meet his mum and dad which I think all went very well.
