So........finally arrived in Africa. Thought I’d write a bit about it as I’ve been here in Tanzania for about 10 days now. To be honest, I didn’t have much time to think about the trip before I left, I was kind of distracted with my mum’s 50th birthday celebration and also, was getting no answers from the hospital or anyone, so I just kind of thought it’d sort itself out when I got there. When I saw an Africa elephant poster at the airport that was the first twinge of excitement - and reminded me of how much I love this whole thing, just going somewhere completely new, where anything could happen! I arrived last week, acutely aware that they were not exactly aware of my arrival. Adey had said it’d be ok, we’d sort it ... read more

Tuesday • After last minute hostel booking and plan making, the boys arrived and we picked them up from the airport....late. • 800 Chinese tourists beat us to Newgrange so we went to the Battle of the Boyne site......which everyone admitted later they found impossible to understand. Aoife thought a ghost was coming out of the door at her, which turned out to be a baffled Kevin. • Dan was VERY excited at the revelation of Trim castle. • Had a BBQ, fit for a small army back at Aoife’s, followed by a couple glasses of wine and a very in depth conversation about the intricate world of douches. Wednesday • We went to pick up the hire car in the morning and finally found one big enough and automatic enough and masculine enough to meet ... read more

Now this is becomeing more of a diary but i wanted to write something about how graduation coz i want to remember everything! It was such a lovely day. What with P2P i kind of hadnt thought about it....apart from my lack of outfit. Turns out on the day i was well excited. It began with me banning dad from wearing his jeans and him changing into his green chariity shop trousers reluctantly, coming back downstairs dragging his heels like Kevin the bloody teenager! When we got there and started seeing everyone, Sarah, Laura and the Malaysia girls it was brilliant. Bizarre really, i just never thought of actually getting to this point! Randomly real nervous though, had to have a little drink beforehand to osteady the old nerves! Anyway, the ceremony thing was....erm, long but ... read more

After last years nightmare delegation i was a little hesitant to expect too much from this trip...but to be fair, reasoned it coudnt be any worse realistically! It got off swimmingly when airport police approached me tin shannon airport to say a member of the group had already been met by ambulance and taken to hospital from the plane! Nice start! Anyway the rest of the group showed up and we met the driver, noel, who from the off was a little legend. he had a glint in his eye from the beginning, a sixty something 12 year old. We started off going to Bunratty castle that day in county clare, which was nice enough. its always a bit funny at the start of a delegation, you're so aware of how you appear to the leaders ... read more

This is just some of the comedy memories we wrote at the final picnic day... Mill Street Comedy • Never getting bored of playing coinage, spoons, hula hoop game • Ems comical cooking and Carls despair of it • Carl - hiding his cornflakes and loo roll • Nick, how he’d sit in his blue shorts with his breakfast in a can and the way he’d inhale his food. Also his down syndrome baby questions and foot fetish were pretty weird. • Going to Blackpool pleasure beach and being so hung-over - the southern boys getting ripped off by the street seller. Then watching Knocked up when we got home ;-) • 4 pint challenge • Heather. Generally. And how she pulled Rach on the first night. • Aoife with her ‘wee noodle on her head’. ... read more

This was just another week of wonderfulness repping with the dream team! Drove down from London with Lordan and met Walker and Ricky in Portsmouth, along with all the committee and awaiting ski club peeps . Had a couple in the union and set off. I was on a coach with Oli, the president and so we got loads of games going. Our drivers were actually fairly sound and so we got away with a fair bit. Got them doing speed dating, with a megaphone and playing 'Take me Out' with their reading lights. One legend stood up and sung Bohemian Rhapsody from beginning to end, with virtually no prompting whatsoever. When all 5 coaches arrived in resort, we were met by a beaming Plummer, who looked well chuffed to see us all. Generally the week ... read more

This is the diary we wrote when we were there!!!! Just as a memory of all the comedy events..... PLANE OVER: Pizza in Cairo, Egyptian tea, Legroom - asshole, Air hostess reflection Day 1 (Monday) Arrived. Checked in YMCA. Wandered round and saw geckos. Had tea in old town white Coffee and had a loitering waiter. Day 2 (Tuesday) Tried to order black coffee for the first time in the YMCA café - unsuccessfully. Bought monthly travel ticket and waited for the bus for 3 hours to do a trial run to work. Got shown around by Ju Inn- was real impressed with how nice and fancy the hospital was! Went to KLCC and tourist office to find info for trips and got excited at all the stuff we wanted to do. Had a Chinese there ... read more

So, it might not have been the best idea to go out in London the night before leaving. Losing a shoe and having Cat nearly pass out on the tube wasn’t the best start. Although once I was at the airport I was on my way, apart from the minor setback of losing my whole make up and toiletry bag somewhere between Heathrow and JFK. Anyways, on meeting Aoife, turns out it could be worse...she'd forgotten her camera, strengtheners and had to be put on oxygen on the plane. Could not be funnier. So Dan met us at the airport and was just as enthusiastic as I remembered. Driving to his along the highway to Long Island was so much like the beginning of the Sopranos. All the holiday excitement kicked in and after dumping our ... read more
