hey guys, not actually in sutton coal field but i dont know where i am so :p also i missed two days from my blog last time not one we went up into the nice rolling hills and went into an old iron mine that had water in it, so they had to use boats, which was kinda cool (it always had water in it), and when down into a "Blue John" mine (the only place in the world it has been discovered). then we went to CADBURY WORLD it was cadbury chocolishious, and the cadbury chocolate in england is way different from the stuff in calgary (its not nessicairly better, but it is definetly not worse). my mother likes the stuff here better, and at one point they give you a cup of melted chocolate ... read more

Met a nice bloke at my terminal from England who was nervous about flying alone. Flight was good with good food. Met two girls at the bus terminal to brim that helped me find my way, and offered to take me a night on the town (I may take them up on it). I got off downtown brim and was pretty lost as to where I was supposed to go. Walked past a church and a new market building that looked funny and was very contrasting to the church, also out back the church there was a beach set up, very wierd. I do have pictures, but no way of uploading them as I forgot my cable, so I may not upload them untill I get home or Jer gets here. At this point I realized ... read more

Well, what a year it's been! I must admit that it's nice to be home, despite the freezing climate - the snow actually seemed pretty and quaint rather than the usual pain in the ass (funny how a year in the sun can addle the brain!) Naturally the biggest highlights are seeing my family and friends again, but I'm also loving the small things that you come to take for granted before setting off with just a backpack full of essential items; sleeping in your own bed, not having to check out by 10 for fear of losing your key deposit, not having to take everything into the shower with you, not having to write your name on everything before putting it in the fridge, not having to lock your stuff away every night before bed ... read more

I dared to do what few Londoners would ever admit to, and a completely foreign concept to others.. A trip up North! Nan and Pop have some very close friends, Robert and Joyce Thornley, on the outskirts of Birmingham that I had been meaning to get in touch with since I arrived and with Mum and Dad it seemed like a perfect time to jump in a car and pop up to see them! Easily said, not quite as easily done!! Jumping into the car wasn’t such a concern, getting it, and getting there was certainly a trek! We had a car booked with the company to be picked up at 12:00 on Saturday, so we thought we would take the morning to head over to Portobello Market in the morning and do some more gift ... read more

(Bronia typing) Gail (Dave's sister) and her boyfriend Paul arrived Sat morning to spend a last Manning family weekend together. Then Dave and I went for one last 10km run in Sutton Park. It's a fabulous 2500 acre park which is 5 min run from the Manning's house and Dave and I have had great runs discovering bits of it. The park was given over to some Lord by Henry VIII as hunting & fishing grounds (there are about 5-7 lakes in it). Underfoot is soft earth and beautiful leaf trails to run on with spectacular views as you round corners and get new vistas of a lake or a stretch of bracken. There are also wild Exmoor ponies that roam the park to keep the growth of the bracken etc at bay - Beautiful ... read more

(Bronia typing) Here is our Itinerary - planned as much as we can to give structure and a general direction, but still giving flexibility for us to change our minds about the length of time we spend in any one place. This framework of dates is based on pre-booked key flights (bold text) that we have booked and our idea of how long we want to spend in any one place. The rest however could change as we go along. Where we refer to a flight that is not in bold text, it means is not booked yet. We start our trip in the Year 2006 * 30 Jan -- Train from Birmingham to Heathrow. FLY Heathrow 20:40hrs to Delhi arriving at 10:30am * -- Visit areas surrounding Delhi (ie. Taj Mahal), then go eastwards ... read more
