We visited Wisley Garden, Surrey on 17 July 2019. The last time we visited there was 2007; we’d heard that there had been a lot of extension work in the garden. We remembered taking South West train to Kingston and bus between Kingston and Wisley Garden. We were annoyed and confused with the announcement of South West train - …Freedom Pass, Oyster Cards are not valid on this train and you will be asked to pay for penalty faire if you fail to show the valid ticket… We got off at Vauxhall once and asked if we could travel to Kingston, Zone 6 with Oyster card. We were told by the railway staff that Oyster card would be valid for us to travel to Kingston. The train was also delayed by signal failure and it made ... read more

A car park in the overflow of the Royal Horticultural Gardens in Wisley. A sunny day with hot November sunshine while sitting in the back of the car (and it's not often you can say that in England). The event itself is full of dead bracken, still standing tall without any frost this autumn so far. Makes for difficult navigation through the confusing lumps and bumps. and with lots of little extra paths by all the dog walkers. Hola Amigo's! Well some of you already know how stressful this planning stage has been for me these last few months, I never realised it would be such a logistical nightmare! Arranging and organising everything to take for 6 months especially travelling through the diverse climates of the Amazon, Andes, Patagonia and who knows.....maybe even Antartica, has proved more difficult than I first thought. Tomorrow I fly to Madrid for the weekend which I am really looking forward to, at least then I can relax and start to enjoy the beginnings of my adventure. It will also giving me some much needed Spanish practice! However I may realise how poor my Spanish skills are and end up panicking before I go!
